Lateral and Medial Views

1. Left anterior cerebral artery

2. Left middle cerebral artery (MCA)

3. Lateral orbitofrontal branch of MCA

4. Ascending frontal (candelabra) branch of MCA

5. Precentral branch of MCA

6. Central branch of MCA

7. Anterior parietal branch of MCA

8. Posterior parietal branch of MCA

9. Angular branch of MCA

10. Posterior temporal branches of MCA

11. Anterior temporal branches of MCA

12. Right anterior cerebral artery (ACA)

13. Pericallosal branch of ACA

14. Right posterior cerebral artery (PCA)

15. Parietooccipital branch of PCA

16. Calcarine branch of PCA

Comment: Individual arterial branches of the ACA, MCA, and

PCA supply specific territories of the hemisphere with their blood

supply. These branches are subject to strokes (1/3 embolic, 1/3

atherosclerotic, 1/5 lacunar). These strokes can affect regions of

the cerebral cortex, basal ganglia, internal capsule, thalamus, and

cerebral white matter.
