SCHOOL OF HEALTH<br />

General Information<br />

Our school; opened in 1996 - 1997 academic year with Midwifery<br />

and Nursing Departments. No students were admitted to our<br />

school in the year following its opening, and after academic<br />

staffing, it started education in 1998-1999 academic year. In<br />

2010, the departments of Healthcare Management and Social<br />

Services were also opened. Since the academic year of 2010-2011<br />

we have been continuing education on Çiftlikköy Campus.<br />

Our school has 8 classrooms, 2 seminar rooms, Nursing Skill<br />

Laboratory and Midwifery Skill Laboratory. All class rooms of<br />

our High School are provided with computer and projection<br />

systems and all classes can be taught by making use of these<br />

facilities. Additionally, perfomances are carried out in nursing<br />

skills and midwifery laboratories in order to make theoretical<br />

knowledgelessons more qualified and catchy for the students.<br />

The students who will graduate from the program get the title of<br />

“Midwife”.<br />

Graduates of the program can work as midwives at Ministry<br />

of Health (state), university and private hospitals, outpatient<br />

clinics, community health centers, centers for maternal and<br />

infant health and family planning, family practice and also they<br />

continue their careers as self-employed midwives by setting up<br />

their own private health cabinets.<br />

Students who will graduate from the program are given the title<br />

of “Health Institutions Manager”.<br />

Health Services Management has a widerange of employment<br />

opportunities. Laborforce that will be created by this program is<br />

highly needed by both public and private institu tions operating<br />

in the sector. The graduates have opportunities to work in<br />

organizations such as central or provincial institutions of the<br />

Ministry of Health, public and private health organizations,<br />

Social Security Institution, private and non-profit organizations<br />

performing in the several levels of health services, universities’<br />

departments with similar academic disciplines or departments<br />

including health management courses in their curriculums, health<br />

related departments of media organizations, Turkish Armed<br />

Forces, institutions for medicine and medical consumables and<br />

insurance companies.<br />

Opportunities Provided To Students<br />

Thanks to the wi-fi system in our building, our students are able<br />

to get easily connected to the Internet via their computers or<br />

cellphones.<br />

Our school is located on Çiftlikköy Campus of <strong>Mersin</strong> <strong>University</strong>,<br />

so our students are able to benefit from the central cafeteria, a<br />

variety of cafés, canteens and snack bars.<br />

Our students are also able to use different facilities for social and<br />

sportive activities. There are a gym, an indoor pool ,outdoor and<br />

indoor basketball and volleyball pitches as well as outdoor tennis<br />

courts available for the students to use.<br />

Besides, our students can also benefit from the central library on<br />

the campus.<br />
