VOCATIONAL SCHOOL OF TECHNICAL SCIENCES
Mersin University Opticianry Program was opened in 2015 and
started its activities with student admission in the 2018-2019
academic year. Our department continues its education activities
with a total of 4 teaching staff, including 1 Professor Doctor and 3
Doctor Instructors.
Program Education Profile:
Normal education is an associate degree higher education program
for 4 semesters.
Purpose of the Program:
The Opticianry Program aims to bring qualified health technicians,
who are graduates of high schools, to our country, who are trained
to provide optical instruments designed for the correction and
removal of visual impairments and to be able to apply to the
patient.
Mission, Vision, Values and Goals of the Program:
Our program aims to train the main staff to work in the field of
opticians, have basic optician knowledge, know and apply the
operation of optician-related systems, use optician’s package
programs, know eye and human anatomy, plan the operation
and management of an enterprise, recognize and use optical
instruments, choose frame and glass. The mission is to train health
technicians who can perform the assembly in accordance with
their data, make cost calculations and work schedules, market the
product, and have general public health knowledge.
The vision and goal of our program is to train qualified Opticians
who are entrepreneurial and self-renewing, who have adopted
a total quality philosophy and can support relevant corporate
processes, know ethical problems and their responsibilities, and
observe health and safety measures related to their profession.
Program Opportunities:
There is an optician practice laboratory. Theoretical lessons are
carried out in our laboratory and in the classrooms of our school
using the current projection.
Programme Employment Opportunities
As the number of Optician establishments increased, the
need for Optician also increased. An optician is a person who
prepares optical devices (glasses, contact lenses, etc.) used for
