6. Department of Hair and Beauty Services
a. Hair Care and Beauty Services (Evening Education)
Organization Information:
The training of professional staff working in hair and skin care in
our country with formal education started at the end of the 1980s
with the opening of the Hairdressing and skin care programs in
vocational high schools and the Gazi University Hairdressing
Teaching Undergraduate Program within YÖK to train teachers
for these programs. As a result of joint efforts between the
Ministry of National Education and the Higher Education Board,
Hairdressing and Skin care programs have been opened in
vocational schools since 2002 within the scope of the system of
transition from vocational high schools to vocational high schools
with the law numbered 4702, which was accepted on 10-07-2001.
Mersin University Hair Care and Beauty Services Program was
opened as Hairdressing and Skin Care and Beauty Programs in
the 2003-2004 academic year. In the 2009-2010 academic year,
the programs were combined under the name of “Hair Care and
Beauty Services Program” with the decision of YÖK.
Program Profile:
Evening education is a 4-semester associate degree higher
education program. Its quota is 50.
Purpose of the Program:
It is to train qualified professionals who are contemporary,
entrepreneurial, who have adopted the idea of continuous learning
in production, have blended art and science, have the technical
knowledge and skills sought in the sector, can guide employees in
the sector, are responsible and act in accordance with professional
ethics.
Department Opportunities:
There are skin care, body care and hairdressing application
workshops. The hairdressing workshop also serves the staff
and students of our university. Theoretical lessons are taught in
projection classrooms.
Employment:
When our students graduate, according to the area they prefer;
-Beauty salons and centers; cosmetologist / body care professional
/ esthetician
-Hairdresser in women’s and men’s hairdressing salons
-Massage salons, thermal hotels, SPA and sports centers; masseur
/ masseuse, body care professional
-TV channels, Theater halls and Cinema studios; make-up artist
-Cosmetic sales points; They can work as a cosmetic product sales
specialist or establish their own business.
7.Department of Medical Services and Techniques
a. Opticianry
Program Information
opticianry in Turkey, the spectacle under the title, 1940, No. 3958
Law on the legal profession has gained Opticians identity. In 1992,
the Higher Education Council (HEC) of pre-license training
programs in universities in the decision Optician that Turkey has
decided to open. This process, which started as a scientific optician,
enabled the graduates of the Optician program to open an optician
with the title of “Optician” with the Law No.5193 on Opticians,
which entered into force in 2004. Until 2013, the transfer of students
without an examination was made in the Higher Education General
Assembly meeting dated 10.04.2012, and it was decided to admit
students to Optician programs by exam starting from the 2013-
2014 academic year. After this date, with a serious increase in the
number of students placed in the Optician program, the number of
Optician programs has increased rapidly with the initiative of state
universities and especially foundation universities, and the number
of programs in universities continues to increase.
