complete all of the courses given in the program in eight terms<br />
(equivalent to a total of 240 ECTS). The education period is<br />
8 terms, the language of instruction is Turkish and the mode<br />
of study is full time.The courses in the education program<br />
are for a semester. In the first year, apart from the common<br />
compulsory courses, workshop courses such as Basic Art<br />
Education, Pattern, Photography, Typography and theoretical<br />
courses such as General Art History and Introduction to Art<br />
Concepts are compulsory.The first-class education program<br />
is an introduction to art in general and graphic design in<br />
particular. In the second year, Graphic Design Workshop,<br />
Typography, Photography, Pattern, Elective Course (Original<br />
Print Painting-Illustration), Computer Education lessons,<br />
applied in workshop environment; Aesthetics, Art History,<br />
Visual Communication courses are also given theoretically.<br />
Students, who are made aware of the technical and content<br />
aspects of graphic design, take courses on graphic design in<br />
the third year, both supporting experimental studies, and<br />
theoretically and practically with the projects created.<br />
Especially, the projects implemented in the workshop courses<br />
such as Advertising Graphics, Industrial Graphics and Illustration<br />
and Printmaking offered in the elective course group, which are<br />
theoretically supported, are based on the possibilities of students’<br />
approach to a design problem and creating solutions.In addition<br />
to the workshop courses, Graphic Production Techniques,<br />
History of Graphic Design and Art Philosophy, History of<br />
Civilization, Mythology, Art Social Science, Visual Culture<br />
History, Contemporary Art and Its Interpretation, Semiotics<br />
Concepts, Semantics, Design Management, which are included<br />
in 2 separate elective courses. Students are also supported<br />
with theoretical courses.In the Computer Education course,<br />
interactive and multimedia opportunities are evaluated in terms<br />
of technique and content along with projects. The teaching of<br />
computer programs such as Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Indesign,<br />
Illustrator, 3D Max to students is also included in these courses.<br />
Final year students are offered 3 group elective course suggestions.<br />
In the first elective courses group; Basic Workshop courses,<br />
Advertising Graphics, Industry Graphics, Broadcast Graphics<br />
and Free Graphics courses are included. In the second elective<br />
courses group; Digital Illustration, Advertising Photography,<br />
Web Design, Printmaking, Typography, Portfolio courses, in<br />
the third elective courses group; Among the theoretical courses,<br />
Advertising and Marketing, Visual Text Analysis, Design<br />
Management, Research Methods, Media Analysis courses take<br />
place. Students can choose each of these courses for only one<br />
semester, or both semesters. Each student who chooses the Basic<br />
Workshop Course prepares a “Graduation Project” with a topic<br />
related to the content of that course. Projects completed at the<br />
end of two semesters are evaluated. Students who are successful<br />
in this evaluation are entitled to graduate if they have also been<br />
successful in other courses.<br />
Graduates can work as graphic designers, art directors or<br />
consultants in private and public organizations that are within<br />
the scope of mass communication such as advertising, printing,<br />
press, web publishing, social media, cinema and television.<br />
By establishing their own workshops, they can continue their<br />
personal art and design work. They can be academicians in<br />
related departments of higher education. They can continue<br />
their graduate education with ‘Master’s’ programs in related<br />
fields.Students who receive education certificate can work as a<br />
teacher in educational institutions affiliated with the Ministry of<br />
National Education.<br />
Academic Staff Information:<br />
The Graphic Department consists of 2 professors, 2 doctor<br />
lecturers, 3 lecturers and 3 research assistants.<br />
Opportunities for Students:<br />
Apart from the opportunities provided in education, students<br />
are also supported in participating in cultural-social activities. In<br />
addition, all classrooms and workshops have internet access.<br />
Post- Graduate Study Opportunities:<br />
Graduate education was started at the Institute of Social Sciences<br />
by taking 3 students in the 2004-2005 academic year as the<br />
Graphic Department. Graphic Department has been continuing<br />
its graduate education program under the Institute of Fine Arts<br />
since 2009 and has a quota of 6 students per year.<br />
