VOCATIONAL SCHOOL OF TECHNICAL SCIENCES<br />
Organization Information:<br />
The Mechanical Program was established in the 2002-2003<br />
academic year under the Technical Programs Department within<br />
the Technical Sciences Vocational School. The education activity<br />
in the Machine Program started by taking students to evening<br />
education in the 2002-2003 academic year. Since 2010, it has been<br />
continuing its education and training under the title of Machine<br />
and Metal Technologies Department under the name of Machine<br />
Program.<br />

Admission and Registration Requirements:<br />
To have a high school diploma.<br />
Recognition of Prior Learning (formal, non-formal, non-formal) Rules:<br />
Recognition of prior education in Turkish higher education<br />
institutions is at the beginning stage. For this reason, recognition<br />
of prior education has not been fully initiated in all programs of<br />
<strong>Mersin</strong> <strong>University</strong>. However, an exemption exam is held at the<br />
beginning of each semester for courses such as English in the<br />
compulsory curriculum of departments. Students who complete<br />
the learning process on their own from these courses or who<br />
think that they provide the learning outcomes in these courses in<br />
different ways have the right to take these exams. Those who pass<br />
the exam are exempted from the relevant course in the curriculum.<br />
Qualification Requirements and Rules:<br />
The conditions required by the students to gain the Mechanical<br />
Technician title from the machine program; a) To pass all the<br />
courses in the curriculum successfully, b) To have at least 2.0<br />
weighted average out of 4.0, c) To have completed the 40-day<br />
compulsory professional experience program<br />
Program Profile:<br />
The Machine Program is a program that provides theoretical and<br />
practical education specific to the field of machinery such as design,<br />
production, materials and measurement, as well as courses for<br />
basic sciences. The main goal of the program is to train technicians<br />
who have the knowledge required by rapidly developing science<br />
and technology, the skills to transfer this knowledge to practice,<br />
and also to analyze and synthesize.<br />
Occupational Profiles of Graduates:<br />
The graduates of the Machine Program can find employment<br />
opportunities in many areas related to their profession in the public<br />
and private sectors and can also establish their own businesses.<br />
Transition to Higher Degree Programs:<br />
It is possible for our graduates to transfer to undergraduate<br />
programs with the DGS exam.<br />
Exams and Evaluation:<br />
Students are subjected to midterm exam, mid-term study (project,<br />
seminar, quiz, homework or a second midterm) and final exam for<br />
each course. There is a contribution of 40% of midterm exams, if<br />
any, of mid-term studies and 60% of the final exam to the success<br />
