INSTITUTE OF FINE ARTS
General Information
Institute of Fine Arts of Mersin University started operation
during the academic year 2010-2011 pursuant to Law
No. 2547, as the fine arts branches earlier attached to the
Institute of Social Sciences were transferred to our Institute.
There are six Main Arts Branches covered by our Institute,
namely Graphics, Sculpture, Painting, Music, Composition
and Conductorship, and Sceneries and Costumes. There
are no students within “Composition and Conductorship”
and “Sceneries and Costumes” branches. The students
of our Institute continue with their education at the
classrooms and workshops within their main art branches.
Our Institute has an office area of 69 m2, of which 28.5
m2 consists of academic office and 40.5 m2 administrative
office.
Academic and Administrative Staff
The staff off our Institute consists of an Institute Director
and Assistant Directors, four administrative staff members
including an Institute Secretary and 3 Computer Operators,
and one Research Assistant.
Facilities Available to Students
Our students attend their applied education at the Faculty
of Fine Arts Workshops and State Conservatory Studios,
where students are provided with the environment and
materials required for their education and training, under
the guidance of faculty members.
Graduate Education
Our Institute offers graduate degree programs in 4 main
arts branches, including Graphics, Sculpture, Painting and
Music. Furthermore, Proficiency in Arts programs are
offered in the main arts branches of Painting and Sculpture.
Mission
To raise highly-qualified individuals who are committed
to the principles and revolutions of Atatürk, who do not
compromise on the principles of secularism and republic,
who are hardworking and use their knowledge and
experience for the benefit of the whole humanity, who are
useful individuals for the community, who think creatively
and positively in the light of universal values, who are
participative, productive and who represent their country
in the whole world with the values that they create; to
conduct scientific studies and researches at the high level;
to produce knowledge and technology, and to contribute
to regional and national development and sustainable
development by offering their products to the society.
Vision
To become a quality-focused, handicap-free and
internationally recognized university that integrates
its students, staff and society through lifelong learning,
building on the education services it offers at the national
and international levels as well as the knowledge, technology
and works of arts it will produce.
