INSTITUTE OF FINE ARTS<br />

General Information<br />

Institute of Fine Arts of <strong>Mersin</strong> <strong>University</strong> started operation<br />

during the academic year 2010-2011 pursuant to Law<br />

No. 2547, as the fine arts branches earlier attached to the<br />

Institute of Social Sciences were transferred to our Institute.<br />

There are six Main Arts Branches covered by our Institute,<br />

namely Graphics, Sculpture, Painting, Music, Composition<br />

and Conductorship, and Sceneries and Costumes. There<br />

are no students within “Composition and Conductorship”<br />

and “Sceneries and Costumes” branches. The students<br />

of our Institute continue with their education at the<br />

classrooms and workshops within their main art branches.<br />

Our Institute has an office area of 69 m2, of which 28.5<br />

m2 consists of academic office and 40.5 m2 administrative<br />

office.<br />

Academic and Administrative Staff<br />

The staff off our Institute consists of an Institute Director<br />

and Assistant Directors, four administrative staff members<br />

including an Institute Secretary and 3 Computer Operators,<br />

and one Research Assistant.<br />

Facilities Available to Students<br />

Our students attend their applied education at the Faculty<br />

of Fine Arts Workshops and State Conservatory Studios,<br />

where students are provided with the environment and<br />

materials required for their education and training, under<br />

the guidance of faculty members.<br />

Graduate Education<br />

Our Institute offers graduate degree programs in 4 main<br />

arts branches, including Graphics, Sculpture, Painting and<br />

Music. Furthermore, Proficiency in Arts programs are<br />

offered in the main arts branches of Painting and Sculpture.<br />

Mission<br />

To raise highly-qualified individuals who are committed<br />

to the principles and revolutions of Atatürk, who do not<br />

compromise on the principles of secularism and republic,<br />

who are hardworking and use their knowledge and<br />

experience for the benefit of the whole humanity, who are<br />

useful individuals for the community, who think creatively<br />

and positively in the light of universal values, who are<br />

participative, productive and who represent their country<br />

in the whole world with the values that they create; to<br />

conduct scientific studies and researches at the high level;<br />

to produce knowledge and technology, and to contribute<br />

to regional and national development and sustainable<br />

development by offering their products to the society.<br />

Vision<br />

To become a quality-focused, handicap-free and<br />

internationally recognized university that integrates<br />

its students, staff and society through lifelong learning,<br />

building on the education services it offers at the national<br />

and international levels as well as the knowledge, technology<br />

and works of arts it will produce.<br />
