As such, Pro Tools software empowersboth music and post-production professionals to easily achieve all of theirproduction tasks within one easy-to-use interface.
At its core, Pro Tools is a multi-track software-based digital recording andediting system. It uses the power of the personal computer to combine harddiskaudio recording, graphical audio editing, MIDI sequencing, digitalsignal processing (DSP), and mixing into an integrated system. With theability to incorporate QuickTime and Avid video files, Pro Tools has alsoestablished itself as an industry choice for post-production video editing andmixing to picture.AudioPro Tools works with audio that is stored electronically in digital format.The software records audio and stores it as files on your hard drive. Like adigital camera that stores a photograph as a collection of discrete pixels, ProTools stores recorded audio as a collection of discrete samples. Pro Tools11 supports audio formats with resolutions up to 32-bit floating point andsample rates up to 192 kHz.Just as you can use an image editor to modify, enhance, and otherwise alteryour digital photographs in creative ways, so too can you use Pro Tools totake your digital audio in new directions. Working in the digital realm makesit easy to copy, paste, move, delete, modify, and otherwise manipulate yourrecordings. Pro Tools lets you trim waveforms, reprocess sections of audio,correct a compromised performance, replace drum sounds, rearrange songsections, and more. With Elastic Audio, you have the power to manipulatethe playback speed of your audio clips, allowing you to freely experimentwith tempo. You can even quantize audio for quick rhythmic fixes or creativeexploration.MIDIUsing built-in sequencing technology, Pro Tools also enables you to recordand edit MIDI data in the same work environment as your audio recordings.MIDI recordings differ from their digital counterparts in that they captureperformance event data rather than sound samples. You can record MIDIsignals from a keyboard or other device through a MIDI or USB interface andthen edit the data using Pro Tools’ intuitive graphical display. The Pro ToolsMIDI Editor windows provide a platform for detailed MIDI editing on onetrack or on multiple superimposed tracks.
