ARH 311 Roman Art (1)<br />
An exploration of the visual arts and archaeology of ancient Rome from its prehistoric<br />
origins through the fall of the Empire, considered in a social-historical context and with a<br />
primary emphasis on the early Imperial period. A Leadership Studies designated course.<br />
Prerequisite: ARH 215 or instructor consent.<br />
ARH 312 Medieval Art (1)<br />
An examination of the visual arts and architecture of Western Europe from approximately<br />
300 to 1400, considered in a social-historical context and with a primary emphasis on<br />
Italy and France. A Leadership Studies designated course. Prerequisite: ARH 215.<br />
ARH 313 Early Renaissance Art (1)<br />
An exploration of the visual arts and architecture in Italy from approximately 1400 to<br />
1480, considered in a social-historical context and with emphasis on major centers,<br />
including Florence, Rome, and Venice. Prerequisite: ARH 215 or ARH 216.<br />
ARH 314 WR Later Renaissance Art (1)<br />
Consideration of the visual arts and architecture in Italy from approximately 1480 to<br />
1580, examined in a social-historical context and with emphasis on major artists such as<br />
Leonardo, Michelangelo, Raphael, Titian, Bronzino, and Cellini. A Writing<br />
Reinforcement designated course. Prerequisite: ARH 215 or ARH 216.<br />
ARH 315 Baroque Art (1)<br />
An exploration of the visual arts and architecture of Western Europe from 1600 to 1700,<br />
considered in a social-historical context and with a special emphasis on Italy, France, and<br />
the Dutch Republic. Prerequisite: ARH 215 or ARH 216.<br />
ARH 316 American Art (1)<br />
A study of the visual arts and architecture of the United States and their social-historical<br />
contexts from the Colonial period to 1945. Prerequisite: sophomore standing.<br />
ARH 405 Pre-Columbian Art (1)<br />
An examination of the visual arts and architecture of the ancient Americas from roughly<br />
1500 BCE to the Spanish conquest in the sixteenth century, considered in a socialhistorical<br />
context and with emphasis on the Maya, Aztec, and Inca cultures. Prerequisite:<br />
ARH 215, ARH 216, or instructor consent.<br />
ARH 415 Nineteenth-Century Art (1)<br />
A study of the major European art movements from about 1760 to 1900, with a brief<br />
inclusion of their correlation in America. Focus is given to viewing artworks in their<br />
