Samford University campus. Students enrolling in Aerospace Studies courses must
contact the Office of Academic Records to register.
The program is divided into the General Military Course (GMC) and the Professional
Officer Course (POC). The GMC includes first year and sophomore level courses and is
open to all students without military obligation. The POC includes junior and senior level
courses for those committed to service on active duty. Each course has a required
leadership laboratory which includes study of Air and Space Force customs and
courtesies, drill and ceremonies, and military commands. Uniforms and textbooks for
all aerospace studies courses are provided at no charge.

Minor Requirements
The following courses are required (8 units):

The student must have a cumulative GPA of 2.000 or better and a minimum of 2.000 in
all Aerospace Studies courses. No grade below a “C” will count towards the minor in
Aerospace Studies. This must include at least two courses of the Aerospace Studies at the
300-level and two courses of the Aerospace Studies at the 400-level. Air Force ROTC
field training is required and may not waived. Students must also pass the leadership
laboratory course associated with each course. Failure to successfully complete field
training will prevent a student from earning the minor in Aerospace Studies.

Army ROTC
The Army ROTC is located on the University of Alabama at Birmingham campus.
Students at Birmingham-Southern College are eligible to participate under the
Cooperative Exchange Program. Students must contact the Office of Academic Records
