single major certification (students complete major requirements in biology,
English language arts, history, or mathematics)

comprehensive certification in general social science (grades 6-12;
students complete major requirements in history with courses also in political
science, sociology, and economics)
Background clearance is required for all education courses that include field experiences.
Professional Studies in Education (Non-certification)

The non-certification track, professional studies in education, provides students who are
interested in education the ability to look at how the theories of teaching and learning can
be applicable to other fields. This program does not lead to certification; instead, students
will be able to apply the pedagogical theories to support education-related interests. A
primary expectation of the non-licensure track is that it will provide students with a
strong educational foundation to seek admission into graduate programs. Students
completing this track are well equipped to enter graduate programs and pursue careers in
non-traditional environments such as not-for-profits, camp directorships, children and
youth ministry, advocacy, or educational policy.
