An investigation of films on historical topics that explores the differences between how<br />
history is presented on film and how it is presented in more traditional, written sources.<br />
An Explorations in Scholarship designated course.<br />
IDS 142 Living a Life of Significance (1)<br />
Examination of what it means to live a life of significance. Students will conduct research<br />
throughout the course through readings, interviews, podcasts, and/or other online<br />
resources. Students’ findings will be presented in a variety of formats, including written<br />
reports, in-person and video presentations, scripted performances, and creative formats.<br />

An exploration of a selected topic or problem in interdisciplinary studies.<br />
IDS 209 Entrepreneurial Thinking (1)<br />
An exploration of entrepreneurship and an introduction to thinking like an entrepreneur.<br />
Students will explore idea generation and learn the process of taking an idea from<br />
inception to business launch. Key topics covered include idea generation, idea evaluation,<br />
innovation, how to communicate one’s ideas effectively, and what it takes to be a<br />
successful entrepreneur.<br />
IS - International Studies<br />
IS 101 Study Abroad Course (½)<br />
A required component of the study abroad experience emphasizing intercultural<br />
communication, individual and social identity using the process of critical reflection, and<br />
culminating in a project for presentation. The course begins the last seven weeks of the<br />
term before study or internships abroad and finishes with a poster presentation during the<br />
term following study/internships abroad. Fall, Spring.<br />
LA - Latin<br />
LA 101 Elementary Latin I (1)<br />
An introduction to the fundamentals of Latin with the aim of preparing students to read<br />
with fluency and pleasure. The course will explore grammatical concepts, develop a core<br />
vocabulary, and familiarize students with Roman life, art, literature, and history. Authors<br />
to be read may include Ovid, a poet who has shaped modern discourses about gender and<br />
the environment; Augustine, an early church father from Roman Africa; and Sulpicia, a<br />
Roman woman who wrote about love from a female perspective. Fall.<br />
