THA 341 Acting and Directing for the Camera (1)<br />

An in-depth laboratory for actors and directors. The course integrates single-camera and<br />

multi-camera techniques, as well as diverse performance methodologies. (Also listed as<br />

MFS 341.) Prerequisite: MFS 220 or THA 120.<br />

THA 370 Seminar in Theatre Art (1)<br />

Selected studies in theatre arts offered at the discretion of the faculty or by student<br />

request. Topics include audition techniques, advanced acting, and playwriting. Instructor<br />

consent required.<br />

THA 403 Directing and Stage Management (1)<br />

A study of the techniques of directing and stage management approached through<br />

practical projects and the staging of a one-act play. A Leadership Studies designated<br />

course. Instructor consent required.<br />

THA 404 Advanced Acting (1)<br />

An open and collaborative actor laboratory for experimentation, discovery, growth, and<br />

risk. The course covers diverse methodologies, including those of Constantine<br />

Stanislavsky, Viola Spolin, and Sanford Meisner. Instructor consent required. Spring.<br />

THA 470 Seminar in Theatre Art (1)<br />

Continued selected studies in theatre arts offered at the discretion of the faculty or by<br />

student request. Topics include audition techniques, advanced acting, and playwriting.<br />

Instructor consent required.<br />

THA 472, 499 Senior Project in Theatre (1)<br />

A theatre capstone experience. Students engage in a significant production responsibility<br />

in a theatre project. Each student writes a substantial reflection paper examining learning<br />

over the course of the project. This paper may integrate other relevant Birmingham-<br />

Southern College theatre learning experiences. THA 472: Fall, Spring; THA 499:<br />

Exploration term.<br />

THA 498 Teaching Experience in Theatre Arts (½ or 1)<br />

A course based teaching experience that might include collaboration with the instructor in<br />

designing and leading class activities, coaching performance projects, and evaluating<br />

student learning along with the instructor. Further guidelines concerning teaching<br />

experiences appear in the “Teaching Experiences” section of this catalog.<br />
