SBS 204 QA Survey Data Analysis and Statistics (1)<br />
An examination of theory and practice in formulating hypotheses and evaluating them by<br />
analyzing secondary sources of data with statistical analysis software. Emphasis is placed<br />
on data management, data analysis, the use of appropriate statistics, and the interpretation<br />
of statistical output. Laboratory required. A Quantitative Analysis designated course.<br />

SBS 304 SM Research Methodology (1)<br />
The scientific method applied to economic, social, and political phenomena: formulating<br />
hypotheses; techniques for collecting data, measuring variables, and interpreting research<br />
findings. The course includes a laboratory in which statistical procedures are applied,<br />
interpreted, and documented through completion of a significant research project.<br />
Laboratory required. A Scientific Methodologies designated course. Fall.<br />

SN 101 Elementary Spanish I (1)<br />
An introduction to the sounds and structure of the language as well as to the culture of<br />
Hispanic peoples. Skills emphasized are reading, writing, speaking, and oral<br />
comprehension. Designed for students who have no prior knowledge of Spanish.<br />

SN 102 Elementary Spanish II (1)<br />
A continuation of SN 101. Prerequisite: SN 101. Spring.<br />
SN 177, 277, 377, 477 Special Topics in Spanish (1)<br />
An exploration of a selected topic or problem in Spanish culture or literature.<br />
Prerequisites: SN 300 or above for SN 377; SN 400, SN 401, or SN 402 for SN 477.<br />
SN 201 Fundamentals of Spanish Grammar (1)<br />
A review of the fundamentals of grammar designed primarily for students who have had<br />
only one or two years of language on the high school level. Instructor consent required.<br />
SN 220 Intermediate Spanish (1)<br />
Building on beginning Spanish, this course thoroughly reviews basic grammar concepts,<br />
builds vocabulary, and further develops all four language skills. Prerequisite: SN 102 or<br />
SN 201.<br />
SN 270 Tertulia española (1)<br />
Instruction and practice in oral comprehension and speaking. Conversation is based on<br />
realia (newspapers, magazines, videos). The course emphasizes oral proficiency and<br />
awareness of modern culture. Prerequisite: SN 220 or SN 221.<br />
