uncontrollably. He would also experience symptoms
of tinnitus regularly, where every sound around him
became magnified or distorted, and he would not be
able to hear what people were saying to him.
Needless to say, it was terrifying for him because
the attacks were sudden and unpredictable and could
happen while he was driving. His doctors told him
that his condition was genetic, as his mum had also
been diagnosed with Meniere’s disease some years
earlier. He was told that while they could prescribe
medication to manage the symptoms, there was no
cure for his condition. They warned him the
symptoms were, in fact, likely to get even worse.
In the meantime, each time he suffered an attack,
he would be slumped over the toilet bowl, retching
and vomiting until he was exhausted. It felt like he
was trapped in the churning waters of a violent storm
from which he could not escape.
Then one day, as he spent time in the Word of
God, the Lord led him to this passage:
“Behold, all those who were incensed against
you shall be ashamed and disgraced; they
shall be as nothing, and those who strive with
you shall perish. You shall seek them and not
find them—those who contended with you.
