she had to take him to the hospital for a thorough checkup. At the hospital, the doctors put him through a CT scan and discovered he had fractured his skull. After he started throwing up, they decided to conduct a more detailed scan. This time, they found another fracture in his skull they had not detected earlier. They also discovered some bleeding in his skull where the fracture happened, as well as blood in his middle ear. It was heart-wrenching for me to watch my little six-year-old boy crying and clutching his head, twisting and turning in a vain attempt to stop the intense pain. My normally lively Justin suddenly became weak and lethargic, and it didn’t help that he was throwing up and could not eat. It was also not easy for me to look at the scans and listen to his doctor talk about the possible effect of the injury on Justin’s brain. Fear crept into my heart, and it was truly a fight to remain at rest. Apart from giving him painkillers and monitoring him, the doctors couldn’t do much for Justin. But Wendy and I knew God could, and we decided to partake of the Communion with Justin. During the entire period of his hospitalization, we partook of the Communion with him at least three or
four times each day. The amazing thing was, we could literally see him getting better and better each time we partook. Every time we had the Communion with Justin, his headaches got less painful, to the point when he told us he would rather just partake of the Communion than take the painkillers the doctors had given him. We know that it was the Lord who accelerated Justin’s healing and helped him to get well in record time. The doctors expected Justin to take at least six weeks to get better, but he improved so quickly that in less than three weeks, they gave him the all clear to return to school. All glory to Jesus! THE LORD GOES BEFORE YOU AND IS WITH YOU IN YOUR TRIAL During what Justin went through, I experienced for myself something I want you to be aware of if you are facing a trial right now: God is not far away. He is with you. He loves you, and He is your very present help.
