REMEMBERING THE FIRST
PASSOVER
When I was in Israel with some of my pastors
several years ago, I was invited by a dear friend to
join his family as they celebrated the Jewish
Passover. They are Messianic believers completely
transformed by the gospel of grace, and it was a
great privilege for my pastors and me to partake of
the Passover meal with them. The fact that we were
in Israel made it even more special for me, and I
treasured the intimate time we had as a family of
believers.
During that Passover meal, what stood out
distinctively to me was the question the children at
the table asked the elders: “Why is this night
different from all other nights?” They were
following an oral tradition of the Jewish people,
passed down from generation to generation. More
