There is an enemy who wants to destroy us, an
enemy who wants to oppress us with sickness and
stop us from reaping the harvest of health and divine
life that is our inheritance as believers. I am not
saying all diseases are caused by spirits, but let’s not
forget spirits exist. The gospel of Luke records how
our Lord Jesus healed a woman who had been
oppressed by a “spirit of infirmity” (Luke 13:10–17).
For eighteen years she was bent over and could not
raise herself up. Our Lord Jesus Himself said it was
because Satan had bound her.
Thank God for doctors and nurses who have
dedicated their lives to caring for the sick,
preventing diseases, and alleviating the sufferings of
their patients. They are a great blessing, and I fully
believe God can work through them.
But there is a limit to what doctors can do when
spiritual forces are involved, and we cannot use
natural means to come against supernatural forces.
The apostle Paul wrote:
For we do not wrestle against flesh and
blood, but against principalities, against
powers, against the rulers of the darkness of
this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness
in the heavenly places. (Eph. 6:12)
