PARTAKE OF THE TREE OF LIFE
Luke 24:30 records that “He took bread, blessed and
broke it, and gave it to them.”
Doesn’t this remind you of another time when
Jesus took bread, blessed and broke it, and gave it to
the disciples, saying, “Take, eat; this is My body”
(Matt. 26:26; Mark 14:22)?
The resurrected Christ had the holy Communion
with the two disciples! What an honor the Lord Jesus
has put on the breaking of bread, on this wonderful
sacrament He has given to the church.
Pastors and leaders, I believe the Lord was
showing us what must happen in our churches every
Sunday. First, He showed us how we must teach
from “all the Scriptures,” including Moses and all
the Prophets, the things concerning Himself (Luke
24:27). I believe the two disciples’ eyes were
restrained from recognizing Him physically (Luke
24:16), because to the Lord it was more important
for them to see Him in the Scriptures than to see
Him in person.
Second, the Lord put the holy Communion on a
divine pedestal and made it central. This is why in
my church, we receive the Communion every single
week. That’s what the early church did as well. The
