Inversiones
La industria aseguradora participa
activamente de la economía
chilena y mantiene sus finanzas
en buen pie, a través de
una serie de inversiones cuya
óptima gestión garantiza la respuesta
a sus clientes. Estas han
ido creciendo sostenidamente
The insurance industry plays
an active role in the Chilean
economy, and keeps its finance
on a firm footing through an
excellent investment management
to ensure clients’ needs are
satisfied.
Investments have grown in a
sustained manner over the last
decade and at December 2014
they amounted to USD 47.933
billion, which is equivalent to
over 20% of the GDP (see
Graph 5).
In addition to their capital,
companies must set aside technical reserves to pay for losses which
may arise from the insurance contracts written by them. Those
reserves are invested by each company through different financial
instruments designed to manage risks by diversifying their
portfolio.
Life insurers play a larger role in investments than General
insurers. In 2013, 96% of total investments was made by Life
insurers, and 4% by General insurers.
