mayor calidad a nivel mundial.
MAGNIFICENT PRODUCTS
Some of the top-of-the-line products in the Dominican Republic are cocoa,
tobacco and coffee. They have had a longstanding tradition in both,
national and foreign markets. Throughout the years, they began to have
wide acceptance once they were accredited among the highest quality
Cocoa is native to America. The Aztecs thought that cocoa tree had a
divine origin and also that drinking it conferred discretion and wisdom.
Xocoatl, raw material that later turned into chocolate was served at a
banquet attended by Hernán Cortés and emperor Moctezuma. Nowadays,
chocolate is used to prepare different kinds of drinks and desserts.
On the other hand, the art of growing and smoking tobacco started back
in the pre-Columbian period. It was said that the colonizers were surprised
by the way the Tainos exhaled the smoke from mouth and nose.
As for coffee, its plant is native to Ethiopia and started to be harvested
in our country in 1735. There are 4 types of coffee cultivated worldwide:
Coffea Arabica, Robusta, Liberica and Excelsior. Arabica is the type of
