Es una especie de bizcocho elaborado con harina de maíz y huevos,<br />
también llamado corn muffin. No es de uso cotidiano, pero se le aprecia<br />
como un rico postre de uno de los cereales originarios de América que<br />
ha conquistado el mundo.<br />
It is a type of sponge cake, made with corn flour and eggs, also called<br />
corn muffin. It is not meant for everyday use, but it is valued as a rich<br />
dessert made from one of the cereals originating in America that has<br />
conquered the world.<br />
El rosquete del Santo Cerro<br />

Los famosos rosquetes, típicos del Santo Cerro, en La Vega, son preparados<br />
en la zona en base a la harina de maíz. Es común verlos ensartados<br />
en ristra para venderlos a los visitantes que acuden masivamente al<br />
primer santuario Mariano de América, donde desde el año 1495 se ha<br />
venerado la Santa Cruz. Se cuenta que los mismos servían para reponer<br />
energía a los peregrinos que subían en penitencia.<br />
El conconete<br />
Es una galleta, de rústica apariencia, elaborada con harina de trigo,<br />
coco rallado, huevos, miel de abejas, jengibre, mantequilla y un poco de<br />
sal. Su textura rugosa y su apariencia reseca enmascaran los exquisitos<br />
sabores proporcionados por sus ingredientes y forma de preparación.<br />
The famous “rosquetes”, native of Santo Cerro in La Vega, are prepared<br />
with cornmeal. It is common to see them hanging from a string to sell<br />
them to visitors, whom flock to the first Marian shrine in America, where<br />
the Holy Cross has been worshipped since 1495. It is said that these<br />
doughnuts served to restore energy to the pilgrims who went up in penance.<br />
Conconete<br />
It is a biscuit of rustic appearance, made with wheat flour, grated coconut,<br />
eggs, honey, grated ginger, butter and a little salt. Its rough texture and<br />
dry appearance mask the exquisite flavors provided by its ingredients<br />
and form of preparation.<br />

La galleta de ajonjolí<br />
Esta galleta se destaca por el característico sabor del ajonjolí (sésamo)<br />
que le impregnan las gustosas semillas que se les agregan a la harina,<br />
a la manteca y al polvo de hornear. Es una pequeña torta crujiente, muy<br />
agradable de consumir como entremés. Se consume normalmente con<br />
queso de hoja.<br />
La masita<br />
Es una galleta rústica muy popular en los colmados, donde se le llama<br />
“añuga perro”, por ser algo seca. Es hecha de harina, manteca, miel o<br />
melaza, azúcar morena y especias.<br />

mix. It is a small crunchy cake, very pleasant to indulge in as an appetizer.<br />
It is normally consumed with layered cheese.<br />
Masita<br />
It is a very popular rustic biscuit in grocery stores, where it is called<br />
“añuga perro” (*in English: dog choker biscuit), because of its dryness.<br />
It is made of flour, butter, honey or molasses, brown sugar and spices.<br />
