He said it was important to bear in mind that reform<br />

was continual and <strong>FIFA</strong> should never stop assessing<br />

itself and questioning the path taken.<br />

9. ACTIVITY REPORT<br />

The President reminded the members that the Activity<br />

Report 2012 had been included in the documentation<br />

they had been provided with.<br />

9.1 Activity Report 2012<br />

The Secretary General then presented highlights from<br />

<strong>FIFA</strong>’s tournaments in 2012, namely the Olympic<br />

Football Tournaments, where new attendance records<br />

had been set, the <strong>FIFA</strong> U-20 and U-17 Women’s World<br />

Cups, the <strong>FIFA</strong> Futsal World Cup, the <strong>FIFA</strong> Interactive<br />

World Cup, which had broken its own record by<br />

reaching 1.3 million participants, and finally the<br />

<strong>FIFA</strong> Club World Cup, where goal-line technology<br />

had been introduced for the first time at a <strong>FIFA</strong><br />

<strong>com</strong>petition.<br />

the 2014 <strong>FIFA</strong> World Cup in partnership with the<br />

LOC to mitigate the negative impact and maximise<br />

the positive effects of hosting a World Cup, and the<br />

opening of two more Football for Hope Centres in<br />

Ghana and Rwanda.<br />

The Activity Report 2012 was put to the vote and<br />

approved with the following result:<br />

– 205 votes in favour<br />

– 0 votes against<br />

9.2 Next <strong>FIFA</strong> events<br />

The Secretary General presented <strong>FIFA</strong>’s up<strong>com</strong>ing events<br />

for 2013 and an overview of all <strong>FIFA</strong> <strong>com</strong>petitions up to<br />

2022, and announced that Colombia would host the<br />

<strong>FIFA</strong> Futsal World Cup 2016 and Portugal the <strong>FIFA</strong> Beach<br />

Soccer World Cup 2015, as appointed by the Executive<br />

Committee. He pointed out that the bidding processes<br />

for the <strong>FIFA</strong> U-17 and U-20 Women’s World Cups in 2016<br />

and the <strong>FIFA</strong> U-17 and U-20 World Cups in 2017 as well as<br />

the <strong>FIFA</strong> Beach Soccer World Cup 2017 were under way,<br />

with a decision on each of these due by December 2013.<br />

The Secretary General continued by presenting <strong>FIFA</strong>’s<br />

work in 2012 in the areas of governance, development,<br />

and corporate and social responsibility, which included<br />

the fulfilment of the road map for good governance, the<br />

implementation of numerous tailor-made development<br />

programmes and the creation of an in<strong>com</strong>e generation<br />

programme, the increase in the number and quality<br />

of playing surfaces, the provision of technical<br />

development programmes for men and women, the<br />

continued expansion of <strong>FIFA</strong>’s medical programmes,<br />

the implementation of the sustainability strategy for<br />

The President <strong>com</strong>mented on the great interest in hosting<br />

<strong>FIFA</strong>’s men’s <strong>com</strong>petitions, but regretted that less interest<br />

had been shown in women’s <strong>com</strong>petitions and appealed<br />

to the members to develop women’s football and take<br />

an interest in hosting <strong>com</strong>petitions for women.<br />

9.3 <strong>FIFA</strong> Confederations Cup Brazil 2013 and<br />

2014 <strong>FIFA</strong> World Cup Brazil<br />

The Secretary General presented the dates and host<br />

cities of the <strong>FIFA</strong> Confederations Cup Brazil 2013 and<br />

pointed out that six of the twelve 2014 <strong>FIFA</strong> World<br />

Cup venues would be used, with the <strong>com</strong>petition<br />

opening in Brasilia and drawing to a close in Rio<br />

de Janeiro. Three of the stadiums were brand new<br />

(Fortaleza, Recife and Salvador) while a further three<br />

had undergone major renovations. He confirmed that
