The Congress proceeded with the election of the<br />
chairman, deputy chairman and members of the Appeal<br />
Committee en bloc, with the following result:<br />
World Cup being hosted in 1991, also in China PR.<br />
He said that women’s football had developed to such<br />
an extent that over 80,000 spectators attended the<br />
final of the Women’s Olympic Football Tournament at<br />
Wembley in 2012. He reminded the Congress of the<br />
decision passed by the 2012 <strong>FIFA</strong> Congress to elect a<br />
woman to the Executive Committee in 2013 for a fouryear<br />
term and of the co-opting of Burundian Football<br />
Association President Lydia Nsekera to the <strong>com</strong>mittee<br />
in 2012 for one year. He explained that since then, the<br />
Executive Committee had decided to co-opt a further<br />
two women for one year, with the confederations<br />
nominating the candidates for these positions. Of<br />
the four candidates put forward, Paula Kearns (New<br />
Zealand) had withdrawn, leaving three candidates:<br />
Moya Dodd (Australia), Lydia Nsekera (Burundi) and<br />
Sonia Bien-Aime (Turks and Caicos Islands).<br />

The President asked the Congress to vote on the<br />
immediate <strong>com</strong>ing into force of the election of the<br />
<strong>com</strong>mittee members, who had just been elected for<br />
a term of four years, which was approved with the<br />
following result:<br />
– 197 votes in favour<br />
– 5 votes against<br />
15. ELECTION OF FEMALE MEMBER<br />
TO THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE<br />
A video was shown on the 25 years of <strong>FIFA</strong> women’s<br />
<strong>com</strong>petitions.<br />

The President informed the Congress that the first<br />
international women’s <strong>com</strong>petition had been hosted<br />
by China PR in 1988, with the first <strong>FIFA</strong> Women’s<br />
The Congress proceeded to vote on the proposal that<br />
the two candidates not elected in the election be<br />
immediately co-opted to the Executive Committee,<br />
with the following result:<br />
– 186 votes in favour<br />
– 11 votes against<br />
The President then asked the candidates to present<br />
themselves to the Congress.<br />
Moya Dodd began by thanking the Congress for<br />
the opportunity to address them and said that<br />
as a footballer, having played from grassroots to<br />
international level, including nine years on the<br />
Australian women’s team, where she had also been<br />
vice-captain, and playing in a <strong>FIFA</strong> world tournament,<br />
she would bring a player’s perspective to the table and<br />
put football’s best interests at the heart of the decisionmaking<br />
process. She highlighted her 20-year career in<br />
law and business, where she had learned to consult,<br />
advocate and resolve, and pointed out that she was a
