Our Experience with the GIAN

This article is a summary of a GIAN-funded interdisciplinary
research project which had the objective
of setting up and implementing interdisciplinary
training for policy dialogue in the field of education.
Policy dialogue is essential since education can
no longer be the exclusive matter of a small team
at the ministry of education, but also concerns civil
society and requires common action to be taken by
all sorts of actors. In this regard, the GIAN project
consisted of the preparation and the introduction of
interdisciplinary training for policy dialogue among
education ministers, officials and civil society on the
subject of secondary education in countries of the
South. The objective was not to establish, and even
