Our Experience with the <strong>GIAN</strong><br />

This article is a summary of a <strong>GIAN</strong>-funded interdisciplinary<br />

research project which had the objective<br />

of setting up and implementing interdisciplinary<br />

training for policy dialogue in the field of education.<br />

Policy dialogue is essential since education can<br />

no longer be the exclusive matter of a small team<br />

at the ministry of education, but also concerns civil<br />

society and requires common action to be taken by<br />

all sorts of actors. In this regard, the <strong>GIAN</strong> project<br />

consisted of the preparation and the introduction of<br />

interdisciplinary training for policy dialogue among<br />

education ministers, officials and civil society on the<br />

subject of secondary education in countries of the<br />

South. The objective was not to establish, and even<br />
