Today’s complex international order poses great
challenges in the interconnected realms of development,
security and human rights, which require
concerted and well-coordinated responses.
To fulfil its mandate, the United Nations must
increasingly rely on the active engagement and
contribution of a multitude of actors. Just as one
country alone cannot single-handedly address
today’s threats and challenges, the Organisation
must draw on the expertise and contribution of
all stakeholders as an essential component for
achieving the objectives of the international community.
Sound and reliable data and analysis that inform
decisions are indispensable to the efficacy and im-
