d’adozione, Giorgia Wurth (classe
1979) trascorre infanzia e
adolescenza a Varazze. Dopo gli anni
dell’università a Milano, in cui lavora
anche come giornalista, nel 2003 si
trasferisce a Roma per diventare
annunciatrice a Rai 3. È la tappa
decisiva di un’ascesa rapidissima che
la consacrerà al teatro e al cinema,
in radio come in tv. Il 2009 è il suo
anno di grazia. In un anno, esordisce
sul grande schermo in Ex di Fausto
Brizzi (che la rivorrà con sè nella
bilogia Maschi vs Femmine e il
sequel Femmine vs Maschi),
interpreta Ilona Staller nella
miniserie Sky Moana e s’impone al
grande pubblico nelle serie tv Il
bene e il male e Un medico in
famiglia. Nel gennaio 2010 esce in
libreria la sua prima fatica letteraria
dal titolo Tutta da rifare, con cui
vince il Premio Afrodite e il Premio
Falerno Primo Romanzo.
Genoese by birth and Roman by
adoption, Giorgia Wurth, 31, grew
up on the Riviera, in Varazze. After
doing university in Milan, where she
still works as a journalist, in 2003
she moved to Rome to become a
presenter on the national television
channel Rai3. This marked the start
of a career in constant expansion,
taking her to the theatre and
cinema, on the radio and the TV. In
2009, she made her first movie, Ex,
by Fausto Brizzi (who later would
have her star in the twinned films,
Men vs. Women, and its sequel,
Women vs. Men); portrayed Ilona
Staller in the Sky mini-series
Moana; and did two TV series, Good
and Evil and A Doctor in the Family.
In January 2010 her first book came
out, Tutta da Rifare (She Must Be
Done Over), which won her the
literary prizes, Premio Afrodite and
the Premio Falerno Primo Romanzo.

In una parola, chi è Giorgia Wurth?
Una grande curiosa. Il desiderio di conoscenza è il
grande motore della mia vita. Mi stufo facilmente,
non mi accontento mai. E questo mi permette di cimentarmi
con sfide nuove.
Lei inizia come giornalista.
Ho cominciato facendo l’inviata per Telenord a Marassi,
seguendo le partite casalinghe di Genoa e
Samp. A Milano, invece, lavoravo per la cronaca di
alcuni free press. Un background che si è rivelato
utilissimo per le successive esperienze come inviata
speciale per radio e tv.
Quando ha lasciato Varazze?
Subito dopo il Liceo. Prima un anno in Irlanda come ragazza
alla pari, per imparare l’inglese. Poi a Milano, dove
mi sono laureata in Scienze della comunicazione.
Ultima stazione: Roma
Mi sono trasferita qui nel 2003 per lavorare come annunciatrice
a Rai 3 e poi non l’ho più lasciata. Una città
non facile, che vive di rendita, mentre i romani non
fanno nulla per valorizzarla. Ma è talmente bella, che
le perdoni tutto.
Com’è diventata attrice?
La scintilla parte appunto da Kubrick poi, studiando,
mi sono appassionata a tutto ciò che stava dietro. Ho
approfondito il cinema contemporaneo, al punto da
diventare una cinefila. Amo il cinema francese e
orientale, soprattutto giapponese e coreano. Senza
disdegnare il genere comico demenziale, purché abbia
il coraggio di andare sino in fondo.
Come in CCaappiittaann BBaassiilliiccoo dei “Buio Pesto”, in cui
interpretava la fidanzata di un supereroe…
Quella è una commedia comica che sa osare e loro
sono miei carissimi amici. Ora si prepara a uscire il
sequel. Un film liberatorio, con presenze importanti,
come Massimo Ranieri e Marco Berrì, tutto girato
nella nostra terra.
Qual è il suo rapporto con la comicità?
Ultimamente mi sono specializzata nelle parti comiche.
Oggi in Italia si fanno soprattutto commedie,
anche se in futuro mi piacerebbe interpretare una
parte drammatica, magari con Paolo Sorrentino. Oppure
con altri grandissimi registi che hanno meno
visibilità. Penso a Paola Randi o Edoardo Leo. Mi piace
molto anche Marco Chiarini, il cui L’uomo fiammifero
è un piccolo capolavoro.
Del suo mestiere ha detto: “Ciò che più mi piace è
che mi permette di trasformarmi continuamente”.
Una trasformazione fisica, prima ancora che psicologica.
Mi piace lavorare con le parrucche, diventare
irriconoscibile. Quando ho interpretato Ilona Staller,
ad esempio, non c’era proprio più nulla di me,
anche le unghie erano finte… Credo sia questo il
Femmine, and vice versa [the movie, Women Against
Men]. In the meantime, she wrote a novel on a whim,
with the evocative title, She Must Be Done Over, Tutta da
rifare (Fazi Editore), which won her the 2010 Premio
Afrodite and another literary prize, the Premio Falerno.
Can you sum up Giorgia Wurth in one word?
A very curious lady. The desire to know has been the great
moving force of my life. I get fed up easily; I am never
satisfied. And this lets me get on with new challenges.
You started off as a journalist.
I was sent by the TV channel Telenord to the stadium
in Marassi (Genoa) to cover the in-house games
between Genoa and Sampdoria. In Milan however, I did
current events for the free press. This background
came in useful for my following experiences as a
special envoy for radio and TV.
When did you leave Varazze?
Just after Lyceum. First a year in Ireland as an au pair,
to learn English. Then Milan, where I got a degree in
Science of Communication.
Last stop: Rome
I moved here in 2003 to work as an announcer at RAI3
and then never left. It is not an easy city. It lives on its
laurels, and the Romans don’t make any effort to improve
it. But Rome is so beautiful that you forgive them.
How did you become an actress?
Well as I told you, the spark came from Stanley Kubrick.
Then, as I studied, I fell in love with all the things
behind the movie. I studied contemporary cinema to
the point where I was intensely involved. I love French
cinema, and Oriental, especially Japanese and Korean. I
don’t snub silly comic films, as long as they have the
courage to do the depths.
Like CCaappiittaann BBaassiilliiccoo in “Buio Pesto”, where you
played the role of the fiancée of a super-hero…
That was a comic comedy which dared, and the actors
were my best friends. Now they are preparing a sequel, a
liberating movie, with important actors like Massimo
Ranieri and Marco Berrì, all filmed in our land.
What is your relationship to comedy?
Recently I have been specializing in comic roles. Today
in Italy mainly comedies are made. Though perhaps in
the future I would like to play a dramatic role, maybe
with Paolo Sorrentino. Or maybe with some of the
other great directors who have received less attention,
say Paola Randi or Edoardo Leo. I also really like Marco
Chiarini, whose L’uomo fiammifero [Matchstick Man] is
a little masterpiece.
When speaking of your trade you have said, “What I
like the most is to be able to transform continually.”
A physical transformation, more even than a
psychological. I love to work with wigs and become
totally unrecognizable. When I played Ilona Staller, for
example, there was nothing left of me, even my
fingernails were fake… I feel that this is the essence of
