In questi mesi ha solcato il Mar Ligure alla scoperta dei porticcioli e delle meraviglie dell'entroterra liguri Patrizio Roversi, born in 1954, is a TV presenter and a great traveler. In recent months he has sailed the Riviera’s Ligurian Sea, seeking out the little harbors and the secrets of the Apennine Mountains behind the coast 35

The initiative was begun in collaboration with the European Union project, Tourisme Ports Environnement, whose objective is to elevate the environmental quality of harbors, and with the Regione Liguria. It was presented in Paris at the Salon Nautic. As Roversi explains, “We were to make 100 mini-films of 5 and 7 minutes each. Video shorts that illustrated in a new way the territory and what’s available for boats and tourists in Liguria. A sort of video of the harbors. What you see, what you find, what you do, from a sailing point of view on the Riviera in Liguria. What are the special features of this marvelous coastline, and where can you dock? What services are available? And this is not all. Once you get off the boat, what can you go see in the lands behind the coast? Where should you go? We tried to answer in a simple and practical way. And if we could do it, everyone can do it. The goal is always to develop tourism into a main resource. The Tyrrhenian Sea, and therefore the Ligurian Sea, are the most beautiful part of the Mediterranean, and the Mediterranean is the most beautiful part of the world for sailing. In our tour around the world on our boat, the Adriatica, we saw it all. If you consider history, gastronomy, art, culture, and traditions, in relationship with its territory, the Mediterranean brooks no equal, and the Tyrrhenian and Ligurian Seas are at its heart.” a vela, l’Adriatica, sono partiti alla scoperta dei porticcioli della nostra regione e dell’entroterra, proprio come ha fatto Blue nella sua storia di copertina. Ma mi sem- The Adriatica, the sailboat for the TV adventure, Velistipercaso, which took Roversi along the coast of the Riviera in Liguria now rather famous boat, the Adriatica, they are off to discover the little harbors of our region and the lands behind them, just like BLUE in our cover story. In your long voyage along the coast of Liguria, what struck you the most? We left from La Spezia. An incredibly beautiful place for sailing, and so perfectly protected by its mountains. We took part in the Palio del Golfo and the Festa della Marineria and docked at Porto Lotti to explore the coast and the hinterlands, searching for museums. The Navy Museum and the Seals Museum were extremely interesting, and so were the archeological digs, from Villa Romana to Luni. We followed in the footsteps of so many intellectuals, writers, and poets who for centuries have added their own value to the area. In the Cinque Terre what struck me was the great labor that the cooperatives do to preserve that peasant masterpiece of stone wall terraces laid without mortar, and their project which integrates agriculture, hospitality, and tourism to make the Park of the Cinque Terre one of the world’s most famous places. In Savona we had an excellent guide, Felice Rossello, a professor of the graduation course of Science of Communication, who, with others, checked Fabio Fazio’s text for Che tempo che fa. Thanks to him, I discovered the magnificent buildings in Art Nouveau style and the tradition that every day at 6:00 in the evening, everyone on the main piazza stops in their tracks to honor the war dead. And then, Varigotti, Bergeggi and the Island of Gallinara, Finale Ligure, Alassio and Imperia with its two ports, one ancient, with ships and fishermen who conserve the local identity of Oneglia, and one extremely modern. We also appreciated the advice that Laura Canale gave us, as she followed us on behalf of the Regione Liguria. How did you find the quality of the water? Did you find the coast too covered by concrete? In the last few years Liguria has made tremendous strides to protect its sea. This can be seen by the results of the monitoring done by the environmental league’s boat, Legambiente’s Goletta Verde. 17 beaches were given the coveted Blue Flag. That is a pretty impressive result. Of course concrete
