preparata in fretta, data la
Solo il 17 febbraio 1923 fu aperta
tomb had been quickly prepared,
since Tutankhamen had died at
around 19 years of age.) Only on
February 17, 1923 was the burial
chamber opened, in the presence of
the authorities and journalists.
When he opened a spy-hole,
Carter perceived – the first man in
three thousand years to see the
contents with his eyes – what
appeared to be a wall of massive
gold. It was the side of the first of
four small wood temples that
contained the sarcophagus.
