SANTA TERESA<br />

Antiga mercearia <strong>de</strong> secos e molhados tornou-se um armazém sofisticado<br />

nos anos 1930, servindo a clientela rica <strong>de</strong> Santa Teresa. Na<br />

década <strong>de</strong> 70, com a popularização dos supermercados, transformouse<br />

num botequim tradicional, mantendo o nome, em homenagem a<br />

Santiago <strong>de</strong> Compostela. Também conhecido como Bar do Gomez, a<br />

casa tem uma boa carta <strong>de</strong> cachaças e petiscos. Destaque para o siri<br />

<strong>de</strong> arroz (bolinho <strong>de</strong> arroz com carne <strong>de</strong> siri).<br />

Once a food emporium, in the 1930s, this place became<br />

a sophisticated storehouse for Santa Teresa's wealthy. As<br />

supermarkets spread in the 1970s, albeit retaining its original name,<br />

a homage to Santiago <strong>de</strong> Compostela, it was converted into a<br />

traditional street bar. Also known as Bar do Gomez, it serves a good<br />

variety of cachaças and savoury tidbits. Siri <strong>de</strong> arroz (rice and crab<br />

fritters) is one of the highlights on the menu.<br />
