8 ja eh meins. Hier leider ein
bisschen zu sehr auf Dancefloor
getrimmt, aber immer noch chillig
und wavig! Soll‘s ja sein!
Die »Sheena Is A Parasite«-
4 Horrors fand ich toll. Die
»Hurts meets Cold Cave meets
Morrissey in schlecht«-Horrors
finde ich ziemlich furchtbar. Leider
ganz okay produziert.
Gibt mir jetzt so GAR
4 NICHTS.
Berlin-Mitte dreht durch.
3 Ich nicht.
So muss es klingen, wenn Modern
Talking, die Flippers und

Cascada sich zum Kaffee treffen.
Leider nicht mal lustig. Ein

I‘m kind of jealous. I mean:
9 Man, how do you do this,
when you sing more than one
note in tune? I can‘t sing in this
register. The best parts of Tom
Petty mixed with falsetto.
Hell yeah, that‘s a band that
9 pisses people off. They‘ve always
been themselves. This feels
honest. Eventually the music got
good too. I love these dudes. 10 is
reserved for God, so: 9
Music for hyper-educated
7 college graduates. If I had
children maybe I‘d put on this
album, drink some scotch and
hope for the best. Nice music,
but not for people like me.
One of those bands surrounding
a huge myth. I

was expecting something more
aggressive. It balances the ability
to make epic indie rock with a
presentation that annoys people.
Oh, they‘re on Sony?! Good
6 luck with that! I thought they
were more of a rock band, I‘m
confused now. This band will
be fine without me liking them.
Chillwave. This record is as
5 exciting as the missionary position
on the cover. This doesn‘t
mean anything to anyone. It‘s
just the soundtrack you hear
when you go to Urban Outfitters.
First they were just one of
8 those cheesy, thin NME
bands with pretty hair for me.
I don‘t like most contemporary
English pop bands but this is
really earnest and fine.
It‘s easy for an unsuccessful
4 indie band to say that this
band is terrible, but I‘m into easy
things, so: This band IS terrible!

This is good music to fold shirts
to. I don‘t know anything about
this genre, so who am I to judge?

Pains Of Being Pure At Heart do

3 CD is an intro. L: Sounds
too synthetic and too romantic
for me, almost like Billy Idol.
Typical radio music. Stuff that
I don‘t listen to.
L: I like this. Good, strong
7,5 rhythms. The singing is
good as well. Cool riffs. G: I liked
»I Predict A Riot« a lot better
than this.
R: They‘re from our hometown,
Toronto? This must be

crap! L: Synthesized Jamiroquai
pop. I never dance to stuff like
this, I just headbang. G: Well, I
danced to it ... only to get the girls.
G: Reminds me of the music
5 that was on the radio in the
early 80s and that I listened to
when I was a kid. When I‘m in
a bar talking to some friends it
wouldn‘t annoy me.

The songs don‘t really sound
5 much like songs, more like a
collection of sounds that have
been given titles. I can see certain
»artistic types« being very
impressed by it.
The songs have a great Captain
Beefheart and The Stoo-

ges feel about them. The kind
of stuff I love to jump around
and sing along to. I like it a lot,
especially »Modern Art«!
This is probably the most
2 boring music I‘ve heard in a
really long time. I don‘t know
who would listen to this. Totally
devoid of any interesting ideas
or structure.
I don‘t get any of this. Once
2 again, where are the hooks?
Where are the melodies? Where
are the messages?
I really like some of the songs.
7 There are some cool melodies
in there, and the production is
fantastic. It‘s a shame it‘s so
electro in places. Reminiscent
of MGMT.
Again, it feels like someone
2 has just looped a bunch of
keyboard sounds and put titles
to them. Every song sounds the
same and there are zero ideas
in the songs.
What the hell happened to
3 The Horrors and their great
two minute freak out songs?
Now they‘re making music for
people who miss the early 1990s.
I nearly fell asleep.
The second half of this record
7 is awesome. Kaiser Chiefs
have this great quality about
them, though this is by far not
their greatest stuff.
I have a soft spot for this kind
6 of music, because my elder
sisters were into this dancey stuff
when I was growing up. But this
is nothing to remember.
This isn‘t the kind of record
5 that I would usually buy, but
there are some nice melodies and
the production is impressive. I
can see lots of young ladies liking
this album.
