Ludger Brümmer
Ludger Brümmer (born in 1958) studied composition with Nicolaus A. Huber and Dirk Reith at
the Folkwang University of Essen. He composed music for the Nederlands Dans Theater/Den
Haag, and, together with Susanne Linke and installation artist and architect Christian Moeller,
composed music for exhibitions in Tokyo and Lisbon and at the London Science Museum.
From 1991 to 1993, he had a DAAD research grant to work at the Center for Computer Research
in Music and Acoustics at Stanford University in California. He worked at the ZKM,
and taught at the Institute for Computer Music and Electronic Media at the Folkwang University
of Essen. By 2000, he was a research fellow at Kingston University in London, and in
April 2002 occupied a chair in composition at the Sonic Art Research Centre in Belfast. Since
April 2003, he has headed the Institute for Music and Acoustics at the ZKM. With highly acclaimed
presentations in Japan, Athens, Montreal, at the GRM in Paris, at the Inventionen in
Berlin, and at the Ars Electronica Festival in Linz, Brümmer has, as a composer, set new international
trends in the fields of computer music and video.
In 2009, he was nominated and appointed a member of the Academy of the Arts, Berlin
[Akademie der Künste Berlin] in the Music Section. He has been presented with the Folkwang
Prize; the WDR Prize; the Busoni Award; the Golden Nica of the Ars Electronica (where
he was a member of the jury in 1995/96), awarded by the ORF; an award at the Luigi Russolo
contest; an Honorary Nomination at the Stockholm Award 1995; and the Grand Prix de Bourges
1997 and 2001. He also won First Prize at the UNESCO Rostrum for Electronic Music and
was nominated for the International Video Art Prize of Südwestfunk and the ZKM, as well as
awarded Second Prize at the Prix Ars Electronica in 1998.
Bernd Lintermann
Bernd Lintermann arbeitet als Künstler und Wissenschaftler im Bereich Echtzeit-Computergrafik
mit einem besonderen Schwerpunkt auf interaktiven und generativen Systemen. Die
Ergebnisse seiner Arbeit werden im wissenschaftlichen, künstlerischen und kommerziellen
Kontext angewendet. Seine Arbeit umfasst Bilder, interaktive Installationen und Projektionsumgebungen.
Seine Arbeiten wurden weltweit in Museen und Festivals ausgestellt, wie dem
ICC InterCommunication Center in Tokio, dem Louisiana Museum of Modern Art, dem ZKM,
ISEA, DEAF und dem Ars Electronica Festival. Er arbeitete mit international renommierten
Künstlern wie Bill Viola, Peter Weibel und Jeffrey Shaw und schuf Werke für das CAVE, für
kuppelförmige und panoramische Projektionsumgebungen. Er veröffentlichte zahlreiche wissenschaftliche
Aufsätze inklusive der SIGGRAPH und ist Mitgründer der Firma greenworks,
die seine Software Xfrog weiterentwickelt. Dabei handelt es sich um eine Software zur prozeduralen
Modellierung und Animation von organischen Objekten, welche beispielsweise
von Firmen der Unterhaltungsindustrie wie Electronic Arts, Lucas Digital und Digital Domain
verwendet wird. Seit 2005 ist er Leiter des Institut für Bildmedien am ZKM.

Bernd Lintermann
Bernd Lintermann works as an artist and researcher in the field of real-time computer graphics,
with a particular focus on interactive and generative systems. The results of his work are applied
in academic, artistic, and commercial contexts. His work comprises imagery, interactive
installations, and projection environments, and has been exhibited at museums and festivals
all over the world – such as the ICC InterCommunication Center in Tokyo, the Louisiana Museum
of Modern Art, and the ZKM, as well as at the ISEA, the DEAF-Festival, and the Ars Electronica
Festival. He has already worked together with internationally renowned artists like
Bill Viola, Peter Weibel, and Jeffrey Shaw, and created works for the CAVE-environment, for
dome-shaped and panoramic projection environments. He has published numerous research
papers, including as part of the SIGGRAPH, and is a co-founder of the company greenworks,
which continues to develop his software, Xfrog. Xfrog is software dedicated to the procedural
modeling and animation of organic objects – used, for example, by companies in the entertainment
industry like Electronic Arts, Lucas Digital, and Digital Domain. Since 2005, he has
served as the Director of the Institute for Visual Media at the ZKM.
