Although pure fructose has a very low glycemic index of 20, compared with<br />

white pan bread at 100 and sucrose at 90 because of their high dextrose content,<br />

42 and 55% HFCS would not have a low glycemic advantage and would be<br />

expected to be similar to sucrose in this area.<br />

Fructose, in the form of HFCS used in the food supply, was included in a<br />

comprehensive evaluation of the health effects of sugars conducted by FDA in
