ASSOCIATE IN NURSING (NUA)<br />

May 2007 was the last date to apply for the<br />

AN pre-nursing program.<br />

August 2008 was the last admission date to the<br />

AN program.<br />

AN Program – a traditional program for students<br />

seeking an associate degree in nursing.<br />

Required nursing courses are: NUA 105, <strong>11</strong>0,<br />

140, 210, 220, 230, 290; NUR 104, 125, 200,<br />

231, and 238.<br />

Additional designated courses required by<br />

nursing as part of the general education<br />

requirements are: ECN 200, 201 or 202; HIS 102<br />

or HUM 230 or HUM 231; PHL 130; PSY 101,<br />

220, 230; and THL 105.<br />

BACHELOR IN NURSING (NUB)<br />

Generic BSN Program – a traditional program for<br />

those students seeking a<br />

bachelor degree in nursing.<br />

Admission requirements:<br />

a) Admission to <strong>Marian</strong> <strong>University</strong><br />

b) Admission GPA of 2.80/4.00 or greater based<br />

on the following prerequisite courses:BIO<br />

<strong>11</strong>4, 223, 224, CHE 100, and NUR 125. In<br />

addition, after students<br />

are enrolled at <strong>Marian</strong> <strong>University</strong>, a<br />

grade of C+ or better is required for<br />

successful completion, and must be<br />

obtained on the first attempt.<br />

c) MAT 102 is waived as a prerequisite<br />

for students who have scored 500 or above<br />

on the SATM or 19 or above on the ACTM,<br />

but a course higher than MAT 102 must be<br />

successfully completed to fulfill the general<br />

education requirement. Nursing students are<br />

required to take statistics, BUS 205 or<br />

PSY 205. If the SATM is lower than 500 or the<br />

ACTM is lower than 19, mathematics<br />

placement testing must be completed before<br />

being placed into a mathematics course.<br />

Required nursing courses are: NUB 210, 220,<br />

255, 330, 340, 350, 400, 401, 416, 430, 440,<br />

450; NUR 104, 125, 200, 231, 238, and three<br />

credits in nursing electives.<br />

Additional designated courses required by nursing as<br />

part of the general education requirements are: BUS<br />

or PSY 205; COM 101; ECN 200, 201 or 202; ENG 101,<br />

<strong>11</strong>5; HIS 102; HUM 230, 231; PHL 130; PSY 101, 220,<br />

230; SOC 101; THL 105, a second theology course 200level<br />

or above; foreign language; and a cross-cultural<br />

class.<br />

Accelerated BSN Program – for students with a<br />

minimum of a previous bachelor degree in a<br />

discipline other than nursing. Upon completion of<br />

prerequisite courses, students may be admitted to the<br />

nursing major and complete nursing courses in 16<br />

months.<br />

Admission requirements:<br />

a) Admission to <strong>Marian</strong> <strong>University</strong><br />

b) Previous bachelor or higher degree from an<br />

accredited college or university with a<br />

cumulative GPA of 2.80/4.00. In addition, after<br />

students are enrolled at <strong>Marian</strong> <strong>University</strong>, a<br />

grade of C+ or better is required for successful<br />

completion, and must be obtained on the first<br />

attempt.<br />

c) Successful completion or transfer of the<br />

following prerequisite courses or their<br />

equivalent: BIO <strong>11</strong>4, 223, 224, CHE 100, NUR<br />

125. A grade of “C+” or better is required for<br />

successful completion or transfer of credit.<br />

Required nursing courses are: NUB 210, 220, 255,<br />

330, 340, 350, 400, 401, 416, 430, 440, 450; NUR 104,<br />

125, 200, 231, 238 and three credits in nursing<br />

electives. A grade of “C+” or better is required for<br />

successful completion of nursing courses.<br />

Additional designated courses required by nursing as<br />

part of the general education requirements are: BUS<br />

or PSY 205; COM 101; ECN 200, 201 or 202; ENG 101,<br />

Completion RN-BSN Program – for registered nurses<br />

seeking a bachelor of science degree in nursing.<br />

Individualized Plan of Study (IPOS) options are<br />

available for recognition of prior experiential learning.<br />

Admission requirements:<br />

a) Admission to <strong>Marian</strong> <strong>University</strong><br />

b) Associate degree or diploma with a major in<br />

nursing from a NLNAC accredited program<br />

c) Active RN licensure in Indiana<br />

d) GPA of 2.30/4.00 from prior<br />

nursing program<br />

English placement testing is not required for RN-BSN<br />

Completion Track students. A maximum of 31 credits<br />
