INSECT STORAGE
Cornell Cabinets for 20 Drawers
Aluminum or Pionite7 covered units accommodate 20 Cornell
drawers. BioQuip has made numerous design and manufacturing
improvements to this 2-row design. These cabinets provide
an economical solution for permanent storage of an insect
collection.
Cabinet tops often function as a convenient working area.
However, when floor space is at a premium, they may be
stacked two or three high. Handles can be installed at
bottom of cabinets to facilitate access to stacked units. Please
allow an additional two to three weeks for delivery of cabinets
with this option.
These solidly constructed cabinets feature step-out doors
with two locking “T” handles. The door can be moved away
from the cabinet providing easy access to all drawers in the
unit. To prevent damage during shipment, handles are taped
to the inside cabinet floor or placed in the bottom drawer.

Cornell Cabinets for 25 Drawers
Good design and precise workmanship are evident in full
height Cornell cabinets, and result in durable, virtually airtight
storage units offerred with steel or Pionite7 covering. Resistance
to temperature changes is provided by cellular particle
board and insulation in cabinet walls and doors. These insulating
properties help avoid the adverse effect of temperature
variation on specimens.
Cabinets for 25 drawers feature a sliding work shelf that supports
an insect drawer for handling or observing specimens.
Cabinets have lift-off hinges for door removal, and a 3-point

BioQuip's open-faced cabinets feature the same high-quality materials used in fully assembled cabinets.
However, they do not have doors or an exterior finish. Reduced materials cost and production time result
in a substantial cost saving. Cabinets are packed unassembled, and can be sent by UPS or FedEx,
reducing shipping cost by ~50%. They are easy to assemble using a screwdriver and hammer.
Cabinet sides, top, bottom, and center supports are 3/4" Melamine-coated particle board, with a smooth, white
finish that requires no further treatment. Drawer runners are the same extruded aluminum type used in standard
cabinets. Plastic, non-marring guides on the bottom protect floors and cabinets.
These units provide important, affordable options for the individual collector or for institutional collections. They
can be joined to form “blocks” of cabinets. For example, if five 2512KD cabinets are placed side by side, and
five additional units are placed on top for a second tier, the resulting module will house 120 Cornell drawers.
The cost of housing 120 drawers in this footprint is less than 50% of that for standard 12 drawer cabinets.
“Blocks” of open-faced cabinets can also be placed back to back, bolted together and placed on rollers to make
them mobile, creating a type of compactor system. An individual collector can purchase single units as
needed, and dedicate a wall to housing a collection with these attractive cabinets.
