Fumigant Box
Used to contain paradichlorobenzene crystals or other fumigant
for protection of specimens in boxes, drawers and display cases.
They are telescoping box construction, covered with white litho
paper, and have a fiberglass screen in the top that permits fumigant
gas to escape. Dimensions are 1-1/4" sq. x 3/4" deep.

Folding Fumigant Box
Economical holder for PDB or other solid fumigant. Fits into one
end of unit pinning tray, or may be pinned or glued into corner of
drawer or box when unit trays are not being used. Folding, white
chipboard fumigator is shipped flat for easy set-up using

Paradichlorobenzene
PDB crystals, a fumigant preferred to naphthalene by some
people for its ability to kill larvae as well as adult pests introduced
into collections. Packaged in air tight metal cans with
friction lids.
Note: Paradichlorobenzene is considered a hazardous
chemical by the Dept. of Transportation. It can be shipped
only to destinations within the U.S.

Naphthalene Cones
Fumigant, applied to top of brass pin, is ready for installation in
storage box or drawer. Packaged in air tight, metal cans with
friction lids.
Please note: Naphthalene is considered a hazardous
chemical by the Dept. of Transportation. It can be shipped
only by surface UPS or Parcel Post, and only to destinations
within the U.S.

Fumigant Strip
Dichlorvos fumigant strips provide an effective
method for protecting insect collections. They are
also successful as a fumigant for herbarium specimens
and vertebrate study skins. Their use eliminates
long term undesirable side effects of PDB
and other common fumigants. Because Dichlorvos
protects specimens for a longer period of time than
crystals, it needs replacing less often and is cost
effective.
Pest Strips contain DDVP resins extruded in plastic,
and are packed in sealed foil packets. Size is
6-1/2 x 2-1/2 x 1/4". One strip can be cut into 12 or
more small pieces suitable for drawers or boxes.
Although this chemical is used in pet collars and as a hanging
strip for household pest control, it should be kept away from the
skin and food.

Fumigants/Specimen Shipping
Unique, hand-crafted glass fumigant holders have been used in
European collections for more than 100 years. These attractive,
transparent containers provide a quick visual means for
checking fumigant level. Holders are approximately 1" (26 mm)
in diameter x 1" high, with an integral pin 3/8" (10 mm) for insertion
into a drawer or box pinning surface. They are made of high
strength borosilicate glass. BioQuip stocks them in two styles
to accommodate either dry or liquid fumigants.
The 1149GD glass holder for granular or solid fumigants has an
open top. The 1149GW for liquid fumigants has an inverted
opening at the center which prevents contents from being spilled
even if the holder is not in an upright position.

Unit Tray Shipper

pinned specimens.
Bottom section is a 1025B
unit tray with polyethylene
foam pinning bottom. Telescoping
lid is chipboard
covered with brown kraft
paper to distinguish it from
the all-white bottom section.
Lid fits snugly over the box
providing double strength
on all sides, and may be
fastened to the box with
tape or pins. A cardboard
insert for placement between top of insect pin and lid helps
keep specimens stabilized during shipment and handling.

Vaportape7 II strips are effective controlled
release dispensers of DDVP or
Dichlorvos (see 1196 Pest Strip). Originally
developed for use in insect traps,
they are also ideal for long term pest
management inside closed areas such as storage cabinets,
drawers and boxes. These mini-strips offer the advantages of
ready-to-use convenience, and increased product safety since
the DDVP is stored in an inner reservoir.
When activated by cutting off a corner or puncturing the mylar
film with pin holes, the chemical migrates through initially inert,
permeable outer layers. As Vapona on the exposed surfaces
dissipates, a replacement quantity passes from the reservoir to
the surface, maintaining the required concentration for longlasting
protection.
Strips are 1 x 4 x 1/16" thick, sealed in mylar film that is impermeable
to DDVP. They fit neatly between unit trays or may be
pinned to the side of a drawer or box.
