Strong yet lightweight anodized aluminum handles for
aquatic nets are available in 3-foot or 5-foot lengths.
The longer length consists of two segments that screw
together. Spring steel net rings are zinc plated and available
in 8" and 12" diameter. Net bags are sturdy unbleached
muslin with skirts extending below Nitex®
screen (500 µ mesh opening) bottoms to prevent snagging.
Both round and triangular shaped bags are listed.

Screen Barrier Net
Aquatic barrier screen, or ‘kick’ net,
is useful for collecting hellgrammites,
stonefly nymphs, crane fly
larvae, and other insects which
cling to stones in swiftly running
water. When stones are kicked or
disturbed, dislodged insects are
trapped downstream in the screen.
The net consists of two 48" hardwood
maple dowels, spiked at the bottom, and
a 20 x 20 mesh amber Lumite screen,
36" square. Mesh openings are approximately 1 mm. Screen is
reinforced by a banding of Dacron sail tape, with sides forming
a tube which slides over the dowels.

Gambusia Net

The Gambusia net is
a BioQuip product designed
at the request
of entomologists involved
in mosquito
control. It is intended
specifically for the
capture of Gambusia
affinis (mosquito fish)
for transfer to other
ponds or areas where
mosquito control is
needed. However, the
net has a wider application
as a general collecting device for those concerned with
fresh water biology.
The bag is 12" in diameter, and is made of 1/8" knotted nylon ace
mesh, banded with Dacron sail tape. Replacement bags are
available. The hoop is flat spring steel which screws onto a fivefoot
aluminum handle composed of two segments (see Professional
Nets on page 45 for more complete description).
The top handle section only may be used in transferring fish
from breeding or holding tanks while use of both sections is
convenient for scooping fish from canals and ponds.

FIELD
The 7600 Standard Series provides economical and reliable
nets for general purpose and student use. Nets
have a 3-foot smooth hardwood handle, 3/4" in diameter.
Net rings are stiff 8 gauge, galvanized steel, 12" or
15" in diameter. Aluminum alloy ferrule ‘J’ mount construction
is used to attach the hoop to the handle, and
two pins keep the ferrule from sliding off the handle.
Standard, long wearing BioQuip net bags are used. Bags
may be replaced as needed or different types of bags
used with the same handle and hoop. See page 48 for
complete net bag descriptions.
