Collapsible Cages
Standard equipment in major laboratories
throughout the world, these cages originally
were designed for breeding mosquitoes in vector
control research programs. They are also
suitable for rearing and housing Lepidoptera,
Coleoptera and many other orders of insects.
Lightweight aluminum frame and 20 X 20 mesh
aluminum screening reduce the possibility of
mold and contamination. The escape-proof
nylon feeding hammock enables exposure of
animal for blood feeding without risk of mosquitoes
escaping. Easy access inside the cage
is provided by a surgical stockinette sleeve.
Sucrose solutions on cotton balls can be fed
to mosquitoes through the hammock with sugar
not coming in contact with metal parts.
Cages are hinged for easy collapsing and storage,
and are disassembled quickly for cleaning.
Efficient in operation, these excellent
cages are available in four convenient sizes.
32 x 32 mesh
Lumite Screen Collapsible Cages
Cages with mesh size smaller than standard
aluminum screen mesh frequently are needed for
laboratory breeding or research programs. BioQuip provides cages
with 32 x 32 mesh amber Lumite screen panels in place of aluminum
screen. Design & construction are the same as for 1450 cages, but the
feeding hammock, used in mosquito research applications, is omitted.

Dacron Chiffon Collapsible Cages
Cages produced with Dacron chiffon netting, mesh size of 70/inch, in
place of other screening are ideal for applications involving very
small insects such as parasitic Hymenoptera, aphids or thrips. Design
& construction are the same as for 1450 cages, except that
feeding hammock is omitted.

Economy Aluminum Cage
BioQuip’s aluminum cage is designed
for simplicity and economy.
Its all-aluminum construction
makes it suitable not only for housing
and rearing insects, but also for
other animals such as reptiles or
small vertebrates.
This versatile, fully collapsible cage
is 11 x 11 x 20" high (28 x 28 x 51
cm), tall enough to hold a potted
plant for raising insect larvae. Aluminum
screening is 20 x 20 mesh.
Two pairs of hinged side panels are unfolded and set into the
bottom panel. After the top panel has been set into place, the
cage is secured with four screws.

Aluminum Rearing Cage
This aluminum rearing cage is constructed
similarly to 1450 cages described
above, but does not have feeding
hammock or stockinette sleeve access.
It is intended primarily for breeding
Lepidoptera larvae, although other
insect orders are also raised successfully
in it. The cage may be used in the
lab with a potted host plant, or may be
placed over a growing plant in the field
by folding the bottom section upward.
Top and bottom sections are hinged
for simple access. Size: 12 x 12 x 24"
(30.5 x 61 cm). Shipped flat.

Collapsible Cages with Clear Panel
Because visibility into cages with Lumite screen or chiffon netting is
reduced due to smaller mesh size, BioQuip offers these cages with
the option of a clear vinyl panel for observation or photography. For
12 x 12 x 12" cages, one side is fabricated with a clear panel. For 18
x 18 x 18" cages, the side with stockinette access is made with clear
panels in the left half and top portion of the right half above the
stockinette access.
