AC and DC Night Collecting Lights
2805 2804 2806
Black light (ultra violet) collecting lights attract many orders of night
flying insects, providing maximum insect response from the UV spectrum.
The three models described at right are the result of BioQuip
research and development. They are well-suited to their specialized
applications, and are adaptable for use with a variety of insect traps
or in sheet collecting.
15 Watt BL Tube Protector
Designed to protect 15-watt BL and BLB tubes from shock and
accidental breakage, this rigid PVC tube is 1-5/16" O.D. in diameter
x 18-1/2" long. An end cap fits snugly over one end for use
with a collecting light. The item is also useful for protecting
replacement tubes when traveling. A plastazote foam plug is
provided so that a spare tube can be secured at both ends.
Black Light Carrying Case
Designed to protect black lights and extra tubes in transport or
storage, this attractive hardwood case holds one or two 2805,
2806, 2813B or 2813C collecting lights, or one 2804 black light.
The box is carefully constructed of basswood sides and birch
plywood top and bottom. The exterior is protected with spray
finish coats of sealer and clear acrylic gloss. Interior top and
bottom are lined with thick, soft urethane foam to provide complete
cushioning for light(s). Removable lid has two brass plated
hinges with slip pins, and fastens securely with a brass plated
snap latch. A comfortable leather handle is installed on one side
for convenient carrying.
Dimensions: 21-1/4 x 8 x 2-3/4" high; weight: 3-1/4 lb.
DC BLB Night Collecting Light
BLB collecting lights detect phosphorescence in arthropods
such as scorpions, and other organisms. By moving the light
across the ground at night, many species are spotted easily.
This light uses a short wave, BLB (black light black), dark
ultraviolet, 15-watt fluorescent tube. The tube is enclosed in a
plastic tube with a screen along one side to provide shielding
from the eyes. Since this type of light can cause temporary
“burn” to the retina, and sometimes to unprotected skin, it must
be used with caution, and the eyes should be averted from
direct view of the light, with the exposed side of the light directed
away from the eyes.
Designed for DC use only, the light has a remote ballast, 6-foot
power cord, and 12-volt connector for hookup to battery or
other external power source. It is 18" long, and weighs 15 oz.
Anti-UV Safety Glasses
Recommended for use when operating 2813C BLB collecting
light. Glasses are made of 100% clear polycarbonate. Optically
correct lens gives unobstructed, panoramic vision with no distortion,
coated to provide 99.9% UV resistance in addition to
scratch, fog and static resistance. Lightweight, comfortable
glasses fit over most prescription glasses.
Collecting Lights
Lights have a 15-watt black light tube, protected by blue polyethylene
mesh which helps avoid accidental breakage yet allows incoming
insects to be exposed to the full range of UV light. They have full 360°
exposure, and are weather resistant. A 10-foot low-voltage cord
leads from the remote ballast or transistor housing, and a wire hanger
is provided. Lights are 18" long, excluding ballast. Being light in
weight, 2 lbs. or less, they are conveniently packed for travel.
DC Light The 2805 is operated from 12-volt DC systems used in
most vehicles and many portable power sources. It is equipped with
a DC cigarette light connector.
AC/DC Light The 2804 combination AC/DC light incorporates electrical
functions of both the 2805 and 2806 lights. It operates on either
power source by selecting the proper AC or DC power cord/connector
and switch position.
AC Light The 2806 uses 120 volt, 60 Hz alternating current, and
plugs into standard U.S. electrical outlets. A self-polarized AC connector
is supplied.
2805 DC collecting light, 15 watt 60.70
2804 AC/DC collecting light, 15 watt 99.95
2806 AC collecting light, 15 watt 65.35
2807A Replacement 15 watt BL tube 10.95
2807M Replacement mesh sleeve .85
Every collecting light is tested and in good working condition at time of
shipment. Collecting lights carry a 6-month warranty from date of
purchase. No warranty is made for lights used in countries other
than the U.S. and Canada, or for lights that have been altered in any
way. A $5.00 handling charge (plus cost of repair) applies to collecting
lights returned after warranty has expired.
Used to connect the direct current plug
on 2805 and 2804 collecting lights or
2851U and 2851M light traps to terminals
of a 12-volt automotive battery. One
end of the 3-foot cord is attached to the
DC socket, and the other end has two
battery clamps with color coded insulation
for correct polarity.
