Minutens are short pins, approximately 12mm long,
without heads, used for double mounting very small
insects. Available in .15 or .20mm diameter. Manufactured
in the Czech Republic. Packaged in lots of

Glue Boards
A European technique for mounting
small insect specimens uses ‘Aufklebeplattchen’, small
boards on which insects may be glued. Glue boards are die
stamped from high quality, .020 thick card stock with smooth
white surface. They take ink quite well with a minimum of ink
creep. Made in Germany. Packed in bags of 500.

Shellac Gel
Adhesive preparation specifically intended for gluing
small insects to tips of points or glue boards. Packaged

Convenient item for keeping several
sizes of insect pins labeled and easily
accessible. Circular hardwood block
has diameter of 3-1/4" (83 mm), with
eight holes for pins and a center hole
for forceps or other small tool. Small
self-adhesive labels (not included) can
be placed on top to indicate pin sizes.

BioQuip’s durable point punches are invaluable aids in mounting
very small insects. Points as illustrated above are 1/4" (6mm)
long, punched from card stock or clear acetate. Specimens are
then glued to the points. Made in the U.S.A.

Double Mount Pinning Strips
Used in preparing double mounts, these pinning strips
enable small specimens to be curated and mounted in
insect storage drawers or boxes. The specimen is pinned
to one end of a piece of strip with a minuten. An insect pin
is inserted through the other end of the strip and pinned
into the bottom of a drawer or box.
The white strips are made of inert silicon rubber, and are
not affected by fumigants or other chemicals. They are a
uniform size, approximately 3mm square. When cut to
lengths of ±1/2" for use, they are rigid enough to support specimen
and pin without sagging. They are non-porous and hold a
.15mm minuten securely.
Twenty double mount pinning strips are packed in a plastic bag
containing 80" (203cm) of material. Strips are 4" (10cm) long;
bag weighs approximately 1 oz.

Foam Double Mount Strips
Plastazote polyethylene foam is well suited for use in preparing
double mounts. This white, fine-celled material grasps
minuten pins firmly and permanently. It is dense yet lightweight,
and is not affected by common fumigants.
Foam is carefully die-cut into 4" (10cm) strips, .125 x .156".
Minutens can be inserted through either side. Strips are packaged
in a zip-lock bag. Yield is 200 or more double mount
blocks from a bag containing 100" (254cm) of strips.

Solid oak pin holder is
attractive, finely crafted item. It has 12 smooth holes for pins
or small objects, with polyethylene foam padding on the bottom
to prevent pins from being bent or blunted. Pins inserted into
foam pads will not spill out if holder is dropped accidentally.
