Mite Brushing Machine
The Mite Brushing Machine makes it possible to quickly and efficiently
remove all mites from leaf samplings of nearly any variety of
plant life. It is easy to operate and does not require special training.
With this machine, one person can brush thousands of leaves per
day with more complete removal of insects than is possible by hand.
Each leaf is run through a pair of rotating goat hair brushes, mounted
in adjustable bearings to allow variable brushing force. The leaf is
pulled back out and discarded. Mites will have been deposited on a
round microscope glass placed on a rotating table below the bottom

Stiky Strip disposable traps provide a safe and inexpensive
method for trapping insects. They are
yellow plastic sheets coated on both sides with a
specially formulated non-toxic, non-drying compound,
and covered with protective release paper.
They can reduce or eliminate use of harmful chemicals,
and survive repeated wet/dry cycles and exposure
to sunlight.
Strips are used for mass trapping or sampling of
aphids, leafminers, thrips and other pests in greenhouse
or outdoor locations, and to detect or monitor
presence of pests in museums or other collection
environments.
The bright yellow color acts as an attractant. Strips
are hung from overhead, or inserted into the coil
end of reusable galvanized wire stakes placed in
the ground or plant containers. Available in two
sizes.

placed in a microscope stage glass holder with a stage pattern designed
to provide an efficient counting process. Stage plate holder is
notched in one position to indicate one complete revolution and eliminate
possible errors.

Public Health Service to collect
adult resting mosquitoes, this
vacuum collector is also useful in
other indoor/ourdoor environments
for collecting fly-size resting
insects in buildings, on row
crops, or in nurseries and orchards.
Several improvements have been
made to the basic design, and the
backpack aspirator now features:

The unit is confortable to wear and
simple to operate by inserting a
collection cup onto the wand and turning on the switch. It has a 5.1-amp
suction motor, and pulls 150 cu. feet of air per minute. The 12 VDC , 17 amphour,
sealed battery provides about three hours of continuous use when fully
charged. A fully depleted battery requires less than 10 hours to recharge.
Five 8-ounce collection cups with 18 x 14 mesh screen (.009" wire diameter)
are furnished. Collection cups with 30 x 30 fine mesh screen (.008" wire
diameter) are also available, sold separately. Operating and battery maintenance
instructions are included.
