Unit Pinning Trays
Cornell University System Unit Pinning Trays
Essential for proper orientation of specimens in insect drawers, unit pinning trays also are
useful for safe handling during transfer work, and provide a secure mounting method for
mailing purposes.
Constructed of chipboard covered with white paper, trays feature 1028N or 1028P white
polyethylene foam pinning bottoms press fitted with hot melt adhesive. A size 00 insect
pin may be inserted easily without forceps and without bending the pin. Foam does not
fracture, remains permanently pliable, is unaffected by moisture, and does not rust pins.
A new size of unit tray is available, half-way between a 1025A and 1025AA, providing
optimum use of drawer space for large series or sizes of specimens.
Because polyethylene foam and adhesives are affected by paradichlorobenzene,
BioQuip recommends using 1196 DDVP fumigants described on page 9.
Cornell system unit trays are 1-5/8" (4cm) high.

Cornell Folding Unit Trays
Folding Cornell system unit pinning trays are a BioQuip innovation
intended for those with low budgets, or for those whose supply and
storage areas are limited. They have the same dimensions as 1025
series trays listed above, and can be assembled as needed and in
the quantities desired.
Trays are made of heavy white coated chipboard (100% recycled
material), cut and prescored. They fold neatly and easily into sturdy
double-walled trays, and are secured in position by gluing and installing
5/16" 1028N polyethylene foam pinning bottoms. The adhesive is
especially formulated for positive adherence of the foam to the tray
bottom.
Trays are sold in kits of one dozen, and in lots of 100 and 1,000. All 4
sizes of Cornell trays are 4-3/8" wide and 1-5/8" high (112 & 42mm).
