This water
filter has held
the reputation
of being the finest
available for extreme
conditions for
over 30 years, with excellent performance even in very cloudy
water. It is extremely tough, easy to handle, compact and lightweight,
with unparalleled ability to provide safe water at a flowrate
to 1 quart (1 liter) per minute.
With a pore size of only 0.2 micron, all known bacteria and
parasites are physically removed. The ceramic filter element is
protected against growthrough of bacteria, even after years of
use. Cocci, protozoa, fungi, giardia cysts, cryptosporidium are
removed, and carriers of cholera, typhoid, bilharzia, shigellosis,
typhoid, traveler's diarrhea, amebiasis, schistosomiasis and salmonellosis
are eliminated.
The filter's effectiveness does not depend on variables such as
temperature, acidity, turbidity or level of dissolved or suspended
mineral and organic matter. Chemical-free filtration provides
water with its own natural taste and mineral contents - it is clear,
clean, and bacteria-free.
The filter's outside parts are aluminum with built-in pump, and
the turquoise housing is polypropylene. The 40" (100 cm) suction
hose has an intake strainer to eliminate coarse debris.
Katadyn's ceramic technology is the most cost effective available.
Filter elements are cleanable and reusable, and will filter
up to 50,000 liters of water, 100 times more than competitive
filters, before needing to be replaced.
The unit comes with cleaning brush and user instructions, all of

Katadyn77777 Mini Filter
Katadyn's mini water filter is the most compact
and lightweight model ever developed
using chemical-free treatment. It uses the
same ceramic technology as the pocket filter
described above. Housing is extremely
durable Delrin plastic; suction hose is 30" (8
cm). Its easy to handle pump allows a
flowrate to 1/2 quart (1/2 liter) per minute.
This super lightweight filter weighs only 8
oz. (230 grams); overall size is 1.75 x 2.75 x
7" (4.4 x 7 x 18 cm). It is easily stowed in a
backpack, carry-on, or vehicle glove compartment.

A Global Positioning System has become
an important tool for biologists working outdoors
or travellng, recording, and storing
locations accurately. It is used for field
studies in bioassay, environmental monitoring,
and sampling. It provides the exact
location for insect observation, collecting,
or monitoring data in longitude/latitude coordinates,
understood worldwide, with far
more precision than ".3 miles from
trailhead," a location that may not exist
after next year's spring flood. A GPS is
also a guide to determine where you are,
where you are going, and how to get there
and back again, in any kind of weather.
Magellan Systems introduced the first
hand-held GPS receiver in 1988. The
state-of-the-art receiver available from
BioQuip has three navigational screens.
The map screen displays location, where
you have been, and a visual indicator of
your route. The position screen displays
your present position, latitude, longitude, elevation, date & time,

What is GPS?
The Global Positioning System (GPS) is a constellation of U.S.
Government satellites orbiting 12,000 miles above Earth, constantly
transmitting precise time and their position in space.
GPS receivers listen to these satellite signals and use them to
determine the location of the receiver, how fast and in what
direction it is moving. They report and record your position,
shown as latitude/longitude coordinates. To guide you to another
spot, the GPS compares two sets of coordinates and
calculates direction and distance from one to another.
