It can be time-consuming to browse through each shared folder on the network looking for the data you need. The Catalog’s Search tool can solve that problem. You can search for any item that you can use in the Catalog by its name and the type of data it contains. You can search for geographic data that is located within a specific area on the earth’s surface. If the item has metadata, you can search by temporal information, such as when the data was published, or by keywords such as the name of the person who created the data. The Catalog creates shortcuts to the items that have been found and places them in the search results list. 153
