entirely independent of sound or articulation;<br />

and could be understood therefore by initiates of<br />

every tribe and tongue.<br />

It is not surprising, therefore, that the Scriptures of<br />

the world, even where dealing on the surface with literal<br />

facts, should have a far deeper symbolic meaning underlying<br />

them. This is certainly the case with the <strong>Bible</strong>, in<br />

regard to the New Testament as well as the Old. The<br />

miracles of our Lord were all of this character. From<br />

this standpoint will be seen the deep significance of the<br />

changing of water into wine at the marriage feast of<br />

Cana; for herein is contained the central secret of the<br />

mysteries<br />
