entirely independent of sound or articulation;
and could be understood therefore by initiates of
every tribe and tongue.
It is not surprising, therefore, that the Scriptures of
the world, even where dealing on the surface with literal
facts, should have a far deeper symbolic meaning underlying
them. This is certainly the case with the Bible, in
regard to the New Testament as well as the Old. The
miracles of our Lord were all of this character. From
this standpoint will be seen the deep significance of the
changing of water into wine at the marriage feast of
Cana; for herein is contained the central secret of the
mysteries
