'F 4' so constructed that it could be taken to<br />

i' Q' pieces and moved about from one place to<br />

another, while the children<br />

of Israel were<br />

wandering in the wilderness.<br />

This would indicate that it was only intended as a temporary<br />

place for God's name, and that its real place was<br />

to be the inner sanctuary of man's soul nature.<br />

As the Israelitish nation in those days had but little<br />

knowledge of Divine law, they had to gain this knowledge<br />

through external means first, and then work inward towards<br />

their soul-consciousness. This sanctuary was made<br />

after the pattern of the heavens, in that it contained the<br />

perfect law of God, written upon tablets of stone. When<br />

the children of Israel were brought out of Egypt, they<br />

were in such a state of spiritual darkness that they were<br />

a very unhappy people, until Divine mercy delivered them<br />

from cruelty and misery.<br />

As they were never able to obey his <strong>com</strong>mandments<br />

and to live up to the requirements of a holy life, there<br />

had to be, as it were, a veil over the inner mysteries of<br />

the soul, so that the real<br />

divine sunlight did not have<br />

free access. When Christ came, he made the perfect law<br />

of God plain to a few who were able and willing to understand<br />

it. The old ceremonial law given by Moses was<br />

only an external method of the Divine Mind to keep the<br />

divine spark alive within their soul. If this method had
