sion of his room as his home for the time being. He<br />

knows that if he did not thus take possession he would<br />

be disturbed by the thoughts of all the former occupants;<br />

and many other elemental forces. There are many who<br />

do not understand this law, yet they have noticed the<br />

effect on sleeping away from their home; for often on<br />

arising they are conscious of having had a disturbed and<br />

restless night, bad dreams, etc. They really slept without<br />

the protection of a home.<br />

These things being true, it behooves every one-especially<br />

is it imperative for those who have started in<br />

the higher life-to have some place that is a home, even<br />

tho it be only a room-some palace<br />

where the occupant<br />

holds supreme control, and no one can enter only by permission<br />

of the occupant. For those who undertake to<br />

lead the higher spiritual life be<strong>com</strong>e more'and more<br />

sensitive to the thoughts and feelings of others; and if<br />

they have no place where a part of the day they are free<br />

from disturbance, their minds be<strong>com</strong>e more and more<br />

scattered, until they finally lose their center, and they<br />

be<strong>com</strong>e weaker than those who have not begun the<br />

higher life.<br />

Now this home that'we must guard and protect is only<br />

for our physical bodies to rest, or to repose, or to work in;<br />

then why care so much for the physical when it is the<br />

spiritual that we have undertaken to develop; for no matter<br />

where the body is, we can still hold to the thoughts<br />

of God?<br />

This is true, but there are times when it is necessary<br />

to relax, especially is this true in the case of the<br />

neophyte, and one can relax with impunity only in the<br />

'quiet of his own room. Then again, we must guard this<br />

physical body, because it is the home of the mind and<br />

soul; for if the body is in adisturbed condition, then the<br />

mind and soul is not at rest.<br />

The Christ called his body a temple, all his followers
