EXISTING CONDITIONS<br />
The four-lane section <strong>of</strong> I-80 between Lincoln and Seward is to be upgraded to a six-lane<br />
Interstate in the future. NDOR 2000 Needs Assessment states that I-80 will upgraded in the next<br />
20 years before 2020.<br />
Seward to Grand Island<br />
The primary highways in the corridor between Seward and Grand Island are US-34 and I-80.<br />
US-34 is a two-lane highway in the corridor; I-80 is a four-lane Interstate facility between<br />
Seward and Grand Island.<br />
The two-lane section <strong>of</strong> US-34 was operating between a LOS B and LOS A, and the four-lane<br />
section <strong>of</strong> I-80 was operating at a LOS B in the year 2000. An average LOS B was calculated for<br />
all the roadway sections between Seward and Grand Island as shown in the table above.<br />

None <strong>of</strong> the facilities between Grand Island and Kearney are to have capacity upgrades based on<br />
NDOR planning documents.<br />

Omaha to Fremont<br />
The primary highway in the corridor between Omaha and Fremont is US-275. In 2000, US-275<br />
was primarily a two-lane highway between Omaha and Fremont in the rural area. The two-lane<br />
section between Omaha and Fremont was operating at a LOS C in 2000. Later in 2002, the<br />
highway was opened as a four-lane expressway between N-64 (West Maple Road) to N-36. L-<br />
28B and US-6 would provide the link to Downtown Omaha for a new bus service.<br />
Currently West Dodge Road (US-6, L-28B) from 168th Street to Skyline Drive is being<br />
upgraded to a 4-lane expressway. In the 2004 to 2009 time frame West Dodge Road (L-28B)<br />
from Skyline Drive to US-275 will be upgraded to a four-lane expressway, and US-275 from<br />
West Dodge Road (L-28B) to West Maple Road (N-64) will be upgraded to a four-lane<br />
