4. Interannual Variability of East Asian Monsoon<br />

Climate by RMIP models<br />

The model can simulate the interannual variability of<br />

monsoon precipitation, as shown in Fig. 3. The high<br />

variability regions such as North India, south-east China are<br />

reasonably captured by most RMIP models. The differences<br />

between model results and observations are not significant.<br />

5. Conclusions<br />

Most RMIP model can simulate the averaged East Asian<br />

Monsoon precipitation as well as its variability. However,<br />

models’ abilities on producing the main rainfall centers and<br />

intensities can be further improved by better simulation of<br />

monsoon circulation and better understand the impacts of<br />

the model physical processes on East Asian monsoon<br />

system.
