The use of àwọn
Any time àwo≥n is used with a noun, it usually implies plural. àwo≥n
always comes before the noun that it modifies. For example:

ilé house àwo≥n ilé houses
o≥koΩ vehicle àwo≥n o≥koΩ vehicles
Using Ó péjó. mé.ta/ọjó. kan pè.lú
Ó péjoœ$ mõœta is used for someone you have not seen for a long time.
It literally means “it is up to three days (that we have not met).” In
traditional Yoruba life, three days is a long time for Yoruba people
not to see one another. The response, o≥joœ$ kan põΩlú, literally means
“one day more,” and so the response is saying “it is actually more
than three days.” The implication here is that it truly has been a long
time since you saw one another.
